FCC APPROVES USE OF THE "F" WORD ON TV AND RADIO!
The Federal Communications Commission has approved the use of the "F" word for use on any TV show or radio program, ANYTIME DAY OR NIGHT!
The FCC said the word can be used whenever desired except in sexual situations!
>>That means that real soon you will be watching a sit-com on TV, or news, or any drama or movie-ANY PROGRAM-and it*s ok! Hollywood is rejoicing!
>>Soon, when you are driving your kids to school you will be listening to a song which makes extensive use of the word.
>>Shock jocks such as Howard Stern are now free to use any language, no matter how vile and repugnant, on their radio shows. And use it they will.
>>No longer will movies shown on TV have to be edited because of language.
WE MUST ACT NOW TO STOP THIS!
Send your letter to your Congressman, Senators and members of the FCC.
Let them know that you want this stopped-NOW!
Please send your letter now. And please forward this letter to your email list asking them to get involved.
If it isn*t stopped now, in a few months verbal pornography will rule the airways!
Please act today. Help us get 1,000,000 email letters to members of Congress, Senators and FCC Commissioners.
Thanks for getting involved!

You're probably right, but I remember that I was 21 years old before I heard my dad use "F". That was the summer I worked construction with him. "F" was use all puposely by everyone, but my father never brought that language into our home. It's the same rationale I use to keep it out of my classroom. I do that because I feel its use in certain situations to be an indicaton of the society's slipping toward degradation.

This is the e-mail reply I received from the FCC about its position relative to the use of the word f$#k on radio and television. Notice that the FCC seems to think that it has no censorship responsibility. Rather, it seems to imagine the networks might actually practice some form of self control and self-censorship.This idiotic decision was made by David Solomon at the FCC.
You are receiving this email in response to your inquiry to the FCC on 11/21/2003 2:44:04 PM.
The Federal Communications Commission examined the complaint filed by the Parents Television Council concerning remarks from a performer on the Golden Globe Awards show. We concluded in Memorandum Opinion and Order DA 03-3045, that the various licensees who aired the program on January 19, 2003, did not violate obscenity or indecency law.
The performer used a crude and offensive word, but in the context as presented in the complaint, did not describe sexual or excretory organs or activities. Rather, the word was used to emphasize an exclamation. In similar circumstances, the Commission has found that offensive language used as an insult, rather than as a description of sexual or excretory activity or organs is not within the scope of the prohibition of indecent content.
The Federal Communications Commission by this decision, does not approve or condone the use of crude and offensive language in broadcast programming. The use of such language is not in and of itself indecent speech regulated by the Commission. We do not have the power of censorship; that responsibility is up to the broadcast networks and stations themselves.
The document, DA 03-3045 can be found at:

To those waxing nostalgic over the crude language used by drill instructors and other military leaders I offer this reminder: George Washington and Robert E. Lee never found it necessary to indulge in this and Washington would not allow it among his men. These men's military genius and the reverent respect in which they were held was all accomplished without a single "F" word. Imagine that.
To: JohnnyRidden
the venerable F word is just a saxonism, for intercourse.
period.

"I don't agree with this decision but does it really matter if they allow the "F" word on TV and radio freely? Kids already hear it at school and other places already."
Does it really matter? DUH! Of coarse it matters! It's high time we quit accepting this sort of lowlife activity and scream...YES IT MATTERS!! Be honest with yourself and stand for something!

The other day, I was (briefly) watching CNN in the break room, hearing Michael Jackon's brother (Germaine??) defend MJ. He used the "f" word and CNN did not bleep it out. This explains it.

If they didn't allow it, they'd have to ban 99% of (c)rap "music". And of course that'd be racist.

We must purge ourselves of these decadent freedoms.

There's nothing wrong with the H-bomb either. It's like the F-bomb, it's only bad when it's used.

One can say "fornicate" or "copulate" or "defecate" or "urinate" or "excrete" with utter impunity, yet one cannot use the briefer true English equivalent, despite the fact that the equivalent words have precisely the same denotations? You consider this the Acme of "morality"? You consider a preference for brevity and punch incivil?"
Go back and re-read the article. It says that you can use f*ck and all of it's forms EXCEPT IN THE CONTEXT of sexual inuendo which is it's original meaning.
