Al Qaida commander 'anticipates' 100,000 Americans dead in attack

Special to World Tribune.com MIDDLE EAST MEDIA RESEARCH INSTITUTE Thursday, November 13, 2003 Al-Qal'a (The Fortress) an Islamist Internet forum, posted the first of a two-part interview with a person who introduced himself as Abu Salma Al-Hijazi, one of the Al Qaida commanders closest to Osama bin Laden.(1) The interview was conducted in Iraq, south of Faluja. The article notes that Al-Hijazi was surrounded by five masked men carrying missiles as well as personal weapons. The following are excerpts from the interview:

In regard to rumors about a large-scale attack against the U.S. during the month of Ramadan, Al-Hijazi said that "a huge and very courageous strike" will take place and that the number of infidels expected to be killed in this attack, according to primary estimates, exceeds 100,000. He added that he "anticipates, but will not swear, that the attack will happen during Ramadan."

He further stated that the attack will be carried out in a way that will "amaze the world and turn Al Qaida into [an organization that] horrifies the world until the law of Allah is implemented, actually implemented, and not just in words, on His land... You wait and see that the balance of power between Al Qaida and its rivals will change, all of a sudden, Allah willing."

Regarding Al Qaida detainees, Al-Hijazi said: "We follow their situation closely... the collaborating governments will pay the price for capturing these heroes who want to revive the glory of their nation and shake off the dust of humiliation and disgrace."

Al-Hijazi added that the "collaborating and treacherous" governments should know that Al Qaida has a long reach and its members enjoy popularity that will not end just because apostate governments detain hundreds of Al Qaida's members. "As soon as the governments detain one of our people, ten like him join us... this is no secret."

Al-Hijazi said that Al Qaida instructed its members not to confront the governments of Islamic countries and clarified that Americans are the main target of the organization, wherever they may be, in order to cause their disintegration and collapse, even if it takes a long time. "We are patient," he added, "our patience will only end with the collapse of America and its agents."

Al-Hijazi also said: "There is no doubt that the demise of America and its collapse will lead to the collapse of these fragile regimes that depend on it... We will not stop until we establish the Islamic Caliphate and until Allah's law is implemented in His land."

When asked about the recent bombing in Riyadh, Al-Hijazi referred to Saudi media reports — which claimed that in the attack Muslim women and children were killed — as "merely media deceit." He added: "This place was under surveillance for many months. Following a thorough investigation, it became perfectly clear to us that the people living there were at least 300 Americans and a large group of Lebanese Christians who had tortured Muslims there, in Lebanon, during the civil war. After consultation, we decided it was appropriate to attack this place and destroy it, including the people who lived there, because it housed Americans and a large majority of Christians holding Lebanese citizenship.

"Since the Saudi government is aware of the sensitivity of this place and that it is a declared target for Al Qaida, it surrounded it with very heavy security. However, we gave our people in Riyadh a green light to destroy it on top of those inside. Allah facilitated breaking into the place and bombing the part in which mostly Americans stayed. As a result, praise Allah, at least 40 Americans were killed, as well as 27 Christians from Lebanon, and a group of citizens who were Muslim; also, at least 70 Americans were injured, as well as more than 30 citizens of other countries, most of them Christians from Lebanon."

According to Al-Hijazi, a Saudi religious scholar who is wanted by Saudi authorities will claim responsibility in a televised communiqué for the bombing "and for other operations to come." He added that the wills of the attackers will be published, apparently, in the month of Shawwal — the month following Ramadan according to the Muslim calendar - when Al Qaida's main website, Al-Nida, is due to be reactivated.

I'm somewhat concerned that bubba is in China. I know it sounds awful to say, but I will be more relaxed when he is back in the US.

Oh, sure it does. The Nation survived 600,000 dead in the civil war; and, that was a much larger percentage of the population then.

Its one thing when someone you have never heard of in a city you've never seen or barely heard of is killed. I think its quite another when you watch them die on television 24 hours a day while everyone around you tells you its our own fault. Given recent events I would say the nation's tolerance for death has weakened somewhat since 1860.

Thats not really the point I'm making though. The point is that while we may be able to handle 100,000 this year, 200,000 in five year, 400,000 in seven years -- we shouldn't have to. We should solve the problem.

The country has three options:

  1. Reduce freedoms in a constant effort to combat terrorism. This is like closing the ports of a firewall to stop hackers.
  2. Fight abroad and proudly cling to our individual rights while a never ending battle against foreign invaders takes place and every so often we suffer massive casualties until the point comes when a bio-weapon is used and we suffer incredible casualties.
  3. Destroy Islam. My favorite.

Any others I missed? They could now allow the freedoms we have to exist at the same moment that they are attempting to stop a lethal contagion. My God -- look what happened last year with the DC sniper when they stopped traffic and went car to car looking for him. That was just one guy killing someone every other day.

Three nukes (originally from Russia) are supposed to be already in the United States and in position.

If this was in fact true - if terrorists were in possession of such devices, and the bombs were "in position" - they would certainly have been used already.

To have possession of a weapon of such power is to be a marked man. The threat of discovery and capture is so great, that you must use what you have, as soon as you have it, or risk the loss of it simply by holding onto it. Use it or lose it, Ramadan notwithstanding.

I'm not saying this couldn't happen. Indeed it might. I worry about it personally, as my work takes me to the heart of Manhattan, at a location that must be considered one of the prime targets of any potential terrorist attack.

The problem with [almost all] nuclear weapons, for terrorists, is that the bombs are constructed in such a way as to make detonation by unauthorized handlers difficult if not impossible. I'm sure that "pull the trigger and run" devices exist, primarily for field use in the military against tactical targets. But even they must require some sophistication (and access/activation codes) that your run-of-the-mill al Qaeda terrorist doesn't possess.

It's possible that an Islamic country like Pakistan may have a weapons design that doesn't incorporate a coded trigger mechanism, that could be made available to terrorists.

Is is more likely (in my opinion) that an outlaw nation like North Korea would actively design and _market_ such a device to a willing buyer.

I'm sure posters to this forum with much more knowledge than me will jump in to correct me, or clarify this issue for the forum.

Having said that, I seem to recall reading about warnings that America would be divided into "3 parts"? Think for a moment of Manhattan with transportation severed between Queens to the east and New Jersey to the west?

Cheers!

We sure would hate to have to use a Roman solution against these ragheads.

Speak for yourself. The Carthage solution worked. For more than 2000 years the Carthaginians never presented a problem (modern day Tunisia)... the most peaceful place in North Africa - at least until some peaceful Muslims blew up a Synagogue along with a bunch of German tourists a couple of years ago.

The Carthage method is the only solution that Muslims understand.
The modern day equivalent is hectares of fused green glass. It is coming to that with these people, it's just a question of time.

Recent times gives us a more contemporary example: the Japanese. They too were inflicted with a depraved religion and were carrying out suicide attacks against us, butchering the population of Nanking and other locales, using biological weapons and committing atrocities. Two good nuke blasts, and now they are the nicest people in all of Asia. Plus they make great cars and gadgets. There's a lot to be said for a couple of properly placed nukes. It works. It's proven. Islam is begging for it.

More than 100 years of North African terrorism at the hands of the Carthaginians in Europe, (Starting in 264 BC), was ended by...

Siege and Destruction of Carthage (B.C. 146).—Never was there a more heroic assault than that made by Rome against Carthage - in this, the last gasp of an evil North African empire.
Supposedly, by this time, Carthage was without arms, without war ships, without allies - after forcing Rome to fight on Roman territory for more than 100 years. To make new weapons, the temples were turned into workshops; and it is said that the women cut off their long, greasy hair to be twisted into bowstrings. Supplies were collected for a long siege; the city became a camp.

For three long years the Carthaginians resisted every attempt to take the city. They repelled the assault upon their walls. They were then cut off from all communication with the outside world by land—and they sought an egress by the sea. Their communication by water was then cut off by a great "mole", or breakwater, built by the Romans—and they cut a new outlet to the sea. They then secretly built fifty war ships, and attacked the Roman fleet. The savage Carthaginians in their fury brought forth the prisoners whom they had taken in their sallies, and hurled them headlong from the walls. But all these efforts simply put off the day of justice.

At last, under Scipio Aemilianus, the Romans forced their way through the wall, and the city was taken street by street, and house by house - each house was built like a fortress. The brave Roman soldiers repaid Carthage for its travesties on Roman territory. Its temples were plundered; its inhabitants were carried away as captives; and by the command of the senate, the city itself was consigned to flames. Carthage burned for 17 days.

The destruction of Carthage took place in the same year (B.C. 146) in which Corinth was destroyed. The terrible punishment inflicted upon Carthage was evidence of Rome’s grim policy to stamp out terrorism everywhere. After more than 100 years of fighting wars started by Carthaginians, they finally got their comeuppance.

Hannibal should have stayed home.

No two bricks were left standing one on top of another and for good measure, the Romans plowed salt into the earth so that nothing would ever grow there again. Did it stop terrorism? Well, only for about 2000 years.

Sadly, Cato never lived to see the final chapter.

If Iraq's WMDs were actually moved to Syria, there is a very good likelyhood that AQ has access to them. If so, playing 9 months of games with the UN and Iraq could really come home to roost.

I could be wrong . . .

but as I read your comment,

my strong feeling was that we will see just that in the news.

Besides, what percentage of the time are the mosques more than empty?

The Dome of The Rock was pretty empty the day I was there.

This is like closing the ports of a firewall to stop hackers.

Welcome to 2003, closing ports on a firewall doesn't stop hackers. Maybe in 1994 it did.

Sounds good to me.

I hate to see death of anyone remotely redeemable.

But these characters have been begging for it.

Let's hand it to em and bury em with pureed pig fat, entrals and pig poop.

Hard to even think about it but count me in on the restrictions side of the equation.

The Constitution is not written in stone and our survival as a nation cannot be accomplished without some temporary loss of freedom. Yes, the creatures - Reno Clinton and R-Clinton - scared me, but now the Islamic hordes scare me more...thanks to Clintons's inability and inaction during those crucial 8 years.

One more thing: Islamics have allies and they are not all "swarthy looking". Remember Johnny Bin Laden Walker? Or John Mohammed? There are plenty more where that thing came from.

I appreciate that, and I mean you no disrespect. I'm only saying that the more times these things get passed on, the less they tend to resemble the actual facts at hand.

But good point.

I hadn't thought of that.

I'VE LONG ADVOCATED . . . WE MUST

Have FREEPERS WORKING AT LEAST WITHIN EYESHOT OF THE GLOBALIST ADVOCATES/PUPPET MASTERS.

We need some sort of informal, WATCH on their part to alert us when they are 'in seclusion' for one reason or another and when the percentage gets above average markedly, we should alert everyone.

I think they are all going to Paris to take part in some anti-Capitalist summit. Too bad this threat isn't targetted there.

I just don't consider this credible. Evidently Homeland Security isn't concerned because we are still on yellow. if they thought this had any legs we would be seeing all kinds of unusual activity from the government. Imagine if they knew and didn't raise the threat level and something happened, this administration would be toast.

Good point.
