There are bills pending in both the House and Senate now that would strip all the federal courts of their "God" jurisdiction. If I were there, I'd push that issue nine ways from Sunday. Thanks for the correction and new information. I'm glad to hear there's some movement in the right direction.

Is Lincoln Chaffe going to change parties? Look for Ben Nelson of Neb. to switch to the R's after the first of the year. Better bet.
To: woodyinscc
Yes. Let's get Terry McAuliffe on it. That will put Jindal over the top.

I heard Brian Wilson on FNC mentioned that not many people were aware of this Filibuster
I sat there thinking .. MAYBE if the Media spent less time on the Peterson & Kobe Court case and spent more time on the status of our nations Courts .. then maybe more people would know
I really hate it when the media/press try to insult the people's intelligence

I just hit your link. I salute you. Liberalism is a disease that will bring this country to it's knees, if allowed to run rampant. It is spread by lies and deception, and is a road block to prosperity.

The Republicans need to start getting serious about gaining seats in the Senate, this will in effect, give them a means of nominating and effectively voting in more Republican judges. This was a fight worth fighting for in one sense, but realistically, it was an act of futility, given the results. I think that that was the point of the whole thing. They'll use this, hopefully effectively, to gain more senate seats in '04.

They'll use this, hopefully effectively, to gain more senate seats in '04.I wish they'd start with Schumer's seat.
Schumer told us he'd vote against confirming extreme liberals as judges as much as he'd vote against confirming extreme conservatives. He sees himself as the knight in shining armor, keeping us all in the mainstream.
Tell me again...What are the names of the liberal judicial candidates Schumer has voted against?
I keep forgetting which liberals he found too extreme....

Schumer is keeping his "hatred" fires burning strong.
From February 1, 2001
Hard Feelings Remain After Ashcroft Vote, by Jim Burns
Senator Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) called the 58-42 [Ashcroft confirmation vote] result an "historic vote" because the president's nomination was "divisive." "I am, for one, heartened that there were 42 votes against him. It's a shot across the bow in terms of the Justice Department and how it conducts itself. It's a shot across the bow in terms of Supreme Court nominations. It's a shot across the bow in terms of the push and pull within the Bush administration, to be moderate and bipartisan or to play to hard right. I'm proud of the job we did," Schumer said at a Capitol Hill news conference following the vote. Schumer called the 42 votes against Ashcroft real "profiles in courage."

Actually Ben Nelson didn't sound that convincing last night. I even wondered about what you just hyposthesized.
Hmmmmmmm.

"He did vote for cloture?"
Yes, consistently, I think on Estrada. Not on another. Both he and Bill Nelson were claiming case by case decisions. I'm starting the case is, Dashole will only allow special votes when it won't change the outcome.

Speaking of Jindal, someone (cough, cough, Blanco) is having computer telephone calls endorsing Jindal placed to people's homes in the middle of the night.

If he does not switch, I do not believe he can hold his seat in 2006. If he moves over to the R's he has the seat for as long as he wants. I think he is mulling over his options. I am not sure, but I think Gov. Johann is term limited and will run for the seat in 2006, if Nelson does not switch. Gov. Johann is very very popular in Neb. a very R State.

Yes, I know. My very D dad lives there and I argue with him all the time! I think his reasoning goes back to the farm subsidies, because you could not find a more orthodox Catholic than my dad. Go figure.
