I just hit your link. I salute you. Liberalism is a disease that will bring this country to it's knees, if allowed to run rampant. It is spread by lies and deception, and is a road block to prosperity.

The Republicans need to start getting serious about gaining seats in the Senate, this will in effect, give them a means of nominating and effectively voting in more Republican judges. This was a fight worth fighting for in one sense, but realistically, it was an act of futility, given the results.

I think that that was the point of the whole thing. They'll use this, hopefully effectively, to gain more senate seats in '04.

Schumer told us he'd vote against confirming extreme liberals as judges as much as he'd vote against confirming extreme conservatives. He sees himself as the knight in shining armor, keeping us all in the mainstream.

Senator Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) called the 58-42 [Ashcroft confirmation vote] result an "historic vote" because the president's nomination was "divisive."

"I am, for one, heartened that there were 42 votes against him. It's a shot across the bow in terms of the Justice Department and how it conducts itself. If he does not switch, I do not believe he can hold his seat in 2006. If he moves over to the R's he has the seat for as long as he wants. I think he is mulling over his options. I am not sure, but I think Gov. Johann is term limited and will run for the seat in 2006, if Nelson does not switch. Gov. Johann is very very popular in Neb. a very R State.
