The Dems are complete bigots.

A bigot is a person who believes in a stereotype for a group and applies that stereotype to every member of a group. When the group is race, it is racial bigotry, i.e., racism. When the group is sex-based, it is sexism.

The Dems and their liberal lynch mob believe that all minorities (whether black or hispanic) must be liberal. They believe that all women (at least all powerful women) must be liberal.

The Dems have said that Migual Estrada was not a true hispanic. They continue to claim that minorities and women who are conservative must be opposed for being inauthentic and "out of the mainstream." Why? Because the nominated minorities and women don't hold the views that liberals reguire minorities and women to have.

White male nominees Pickering and Pryor are being opposed based on liberals' religious bigotry, but the Dems are more scared of conservative minorities and women because it will be harder to oppose a conservative minority or woman if later nominated to the Supreme Court.

Stop the racist and sexist Democrat filibusters!

This whole argument is based on Doctor Raoul's brilliant statement to an Algore supporter last weekend and discussed here including the following paragraph:

SOme puke in a suit really had his liberal panties in a bunch that we called Democrats racists, so I schooled him and everyone else within earshot. I said, "What's bigot? A bigot is a person that believes in a stereotype and applies that stereotype to every member of that group. The liberals bellieve is a stereotype that every minority should be a liberal. They would deny a minority their right to be a conservative if they so choose. In fact, they'll attack and take away a minority's rights if that minority is a conservative. So when they treat all minorites according to their stereotype, they are bigot. That it falls across racial lines also makes them racists."

Again thanks.... I'm not asking you to defend the other posters statements. I was only trying to get it to furnish the reasoning. Looks like it's a one time hit and run poster....

"Ah ha! Call for a vote, when they can't vote. So they can say they're not obstructing judges."

Exactly. The Democrats have been playing a very dirty game throughout this debate. Remember they hacked Frist's website right in the beginning of the debate and then used it for the next 24 hours.

I think we lost the opportunity to go "nuclear" on this when we allowed it to be called the "nuclear option".

In reality it just means that we want to take the Senate Rules back to a Contitutionally defensible set of rules. I think the time to do this is in January 2005 after the new Congress is set, hopefully after a bunch of additional Dem Senators are thrown out of office, including Tom Daschle.

There is a 24-7 filibuster going on now, and has been going on for some time. The nominees are not being allowed a vote. The Democrats have decided to filibuster, not the Republicans. I'm not sure what your point is.

Oh, I think the other poster was incorrect. I believe recess judicial appointees are not paid. My preference to reply to you was my way to avoid proving my position ...

Carry on! Sessions is setting the stage for next steps. Notes that the standard is now 60 Senators, which disrupts the balance of power laid out in the Constitution, in not healthy for the Senate, etc.

No...this is nothing close to a real filibuster.

A real filibuster has one member refusing to give up control of the floor. He/she does so by talking. If/when he/she ever gives up the floor, the Senate can continue business.

Leon Holmes is nominated to a District Court in Arkansas. This is a ploy by the dims for positive sound bytes, to show they are not obstructing. Judge Holmes is no danger to them now for higher courts. They can fight that battle down the road.

It appears the Republican Senators are continuing the dialogue even though the official period of debate is over.

The only way to end this without changing the rule is to not permit ANY other business to come to the floor until the votes are taken.

Two problems...

I think this is prohibited under the new "non-filibuster filibuster" rules...and

the Pubbies are paranoid after being "successfully" (by the media) painted as being the party that "shut down the government" in 1995. The Senate has always seen the House as the "petulant children next door". They are unlikely to take that measure.
