You should see the previews -- Cat in the Hat in *NOT* a child's movie. Just like the Grinch with Jim Carey wasn't.

I'd skip it and read 'em the book.

Wasn't "reading the book" the whole point in Dr Seuss writings such things? Any illiterate moron can sit mesmerized before a glowing screen. Reading is a skill that needs to be learned.

John, I agree with your take. All you can do is act toward the most militant in this social war. Liberals who mind their own business bother me not. Fact is, I can respect THEM. It's the in-your-face, "I hate you and seek to destroy your side" types out front that we aim to do something about.

Now, "Get back to work" (LOL...Inside joke...Mark let me in on it.)

Me too Hair, one of my friends is a raving Bush hater, but she is still a dear friend of mine.......

Yes I did miss your point by a wider margin than a country mile...there are (and I mistook you for one) who would (do) call for such a boycott.

My point about farms was simple, if we boycott every company in which a liberal profits, we need to all start being entirely self-sufficient.

I have a knee jerk cringe response to calls for boycotts on some fringe rationale simply because of the HUGE number of fringe groups boycotting any particular thing that gets made at any particular time. Rarely is such a call to boycott effective enough or draw enough response to matter. The offense has to be greater than just one of the players in a major effort being a liberal on issues.

Someone in the PR department of any major corporation or movie could hardly keep straight who is boycotting them at any given time. Lets see... is this group the ones who boycott us use of animals or the ones that boycott us for supporting the Nature Conservancy or the ones that are still boycotting us because we used fur in that film last year or the ones that are boycotting us because we stopped using fur? Is this the group boycotting actor Jones because he is a Democrat or the group boycotting actor Smith for being a Republican?

Most movies made from Michael Chrichton books really blow. Andromeda Strain was good, the special effects for Jurrasic Park were good, other than that... in general it's best to read the book and congradulate him for getting Hollywood to fork over another big pile of cash on movie rights.

Excellent point John. When conservatives start cranking out some quality alternatives, lists like this may actually mean something to me.

Precisely. Boycotts of entertainment make no sense to me. I'd prefer we keep these libs busy making movies, doing what they do best, so they don't have as much time to go flap their lips about their "opinions."

We're looking forward to Elf, LOTR #3 (isn't Aragorn a born-again hippie?), and particularly Timeline - great book, hope the movie is too.

I didn't know Alec "The Bloviator" was in it. No WAY I will see it. Even though I love the movie Hunt for Red October

I have a simple solution that accomplishes the acceptable results. I buy the movie from a used DVD/VHS, vender, like half priced eBay or a garage sale. These are still new releases (within 6 months of release), but viewed a couple of times. I pay a private party, not the commie/scum/pig/moron, and we get the pleasure of their God-given, however limited talents. All it takes in a bit of patience, and a credit card. Anyway my Movie Food is WAY, WAY BETTER than the CARB LOADED, cardboard tortilla chips with mild stale peppers, limp whristed, sissy oil popped POOPcorn, and watered down fountain drinks totaling $1000.00.

Last night we watched our own Big Screen Double Feature version of "CHICAGO", "About Schmitt", and ate:

Bistecca alla Pizzaiola
  (Steak Pizzaiola)

We may not always picture a beef steak, when we think of
Italian dinners, but this may be the "national" dish of Naples.

LowCarb Bistecca alla Pizzaiola

3 Tbs (45 ml) olive oil
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 cups (500 ml) canned Italian tomatoes, drained and coarsely chopped
1 tsp (5 ml) dried oregano or 1 Tbs Fresh
1 tsp dried parsley or 1 Tbs Fresh (Italian Flat of course)
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
3 - 4 lb (1.3 - 1.8 Kg) T-bone, Porterhouse, or sirloin steak

Heat 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of the olive oil in a saucepan over
moderate heat.  Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.  Add the
tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper and cook for 5 minutes, stirring
frequently.  Remove from heat and set aside. Heat the remaining olive
oil in a large skillet over high heat.  Season the steak with salt and
pepper and brown in the oil for 2 minutes on each side.
Lower the heat to moderate and add the tomato sauce, spooning
it over and around the meat.  Cover tightly and cook an additional 5
to 10 minutes, until the steak is done to your taste.  Scrape the
sauce off the steak and remove the steak to a cutting board.
Simmer the sauce remaining inthe skillet, scraping the bottom of the pan.
Carve the steak into thick slices and serve topped with the sauce.
Serves 4 to 6 or 2 fat Freepers Ha!

It's your money folks

Why, thank you. And, my children are going to see Elf. And, I may even go off the deep end and buy them a soda while I'm at it. Call in the National Guard.

You miss the point John...We aren't targeting "liberals". We are targeting those that have taken positions AGAINST America. I have not heard of Crichton bashing America, please let me know if he has.

Our goal is simple: Not support those that won't support America.

What part of free will don't you get? I merely share info, you are free to do as you choose. Some love America and appreciate the info we share...Why get your panties all wadded up?

You see, this is why my favorite actor is Godzilla. You never hear the Big G bad talking the USA.

That's because the Big G symbolizes the US. Consider that he is a giant unstoppable atomic monster that, once disturbed, comes to Japan breathing fire and destroying her cities. Afterward, that very same giant monster comes to save the helpless Japan from other monsters that seek to destroy it. Sound familiar?

if you have no idea what these people have done by now...

I do know who those actors are. You only posted the names of the movies without mentioning the actors in them or any other information. You are assuming people reading this thread already knew about these movies and who is in them. I do know who those actors are. I was hoping you would have the courtesy include that information since you were the one who started the thread, but it is pretty obvious that you don't have any manners.

That I find it asinine that people would boycott everything that can be even remotely tied to anything liberal. It's a bit sad that some people seem to find it impossible to disconnect their lives in any shape or form from politics. Other than that, I have no point.

"You miss the point John...We aren't targeting "liberals". We are targeting those that have taken positions AGAINST America. I have not heard of Crichton bashing America, please let me know if he has."

Well, we'd have to get into what you mean by bashing America, wouldn't we? And I have a feeling it would be anyone who disagrees with your hard-held beliefs (which, for what it's worth, are probably very much in line with most of mine, anyway). Crichton is on record as being against everything we're doing in Iraq--from pre- to wartime to post-. And no, I'm not going to cite chapter and verse to source that, because I'm not interested in doing your job for you.

"Our goal is simple: Not support those that won't support America."

Again: It's pretty obvious that you will just add names to this list as you go merrily along, "collecting names" of those who happen to disagree with what you believe. (And A, to repeat: I'm sure I happen to align the same way you do on most issues, so don't go there; B, this sure smells like Fascism, which, historically, usually comes from the Left.)

"What part of free will don't you get?"

The part that you don't get: Any citizen is free to hold whatever opinion he wants, and express it in any way he wants to. You would embrace the side that embraces you--having your opinions, and reacting the way you wish--but you reject the other side out of hand.

"I merely share info, you are free to do as you choose."

You don't merely "share info." You throw out histrionic, hysterical challenges, suggesting (not very subtly), that those who don't join in with you are at the very least, not really conservative, or at the most, perhaps unpatriotic, or not even very good Americans. Sean Penn is a liberal puke, but he is brilliant in Mystic River. Deal with it.

But as you're dealing, don't, for God's sake, see the movie. Judge it ahead of time. Who's more purblind, Penn or you? He can set aside his ideology to be professional, but I have inferred from your posts that you could not.

"Some love America and appreciate the info we share...Why get your panties all wadded up?"

Again: Those who don't "appreciate" your info...don't love America? And to appreciate it, of course, we have to "sign up" and "boycott" the titles you deem wrongheaded every week, right?

I wish you'd come on FR just as a member with thoughts and opinions, without touting your site, and urging us to link to it (and contribute, I'm sure), and touting your ego, and your frankly pitiable cheerleading about all you're accomplishing--a few weeks ago, you boasted about "over 700" people who would be staying home from a particular movie that weekend. In a country of over 30,000 movie screens.

I just took my ten-year-old son and two of his buddies to Elf, and they laughed their butts off. They loved it. Then of course on the way home we talked about the homosexual agenda. A Christmas movie that's funny and makes kids walk out of the theater feeling good about themselves, this great holiday, and their families--yeah, man, throw up the picket signs! By the way: I'm presuming you decided that fifty percent of this country should stay away from this movie because Ed Asner was in it. He was in three scenes: He played a twinkly-eyed Santa, and he was great.

I know that none of this will get to you, by the way. I also know that you will go into whirling dervish defense mode, and start answering every point I've made. Just try to keep it sane, okay? If someone doesn't agree with you, it doesn't really mean that he's a bad American, okay?

The panties are just fine, by the way.

I am obsessing on the politics of my bath soap and toilet paper this week.

I have resorted to making my own soap and using corncobs for that squeaky clean feeling.

who's boycotting everything? Could you elaborate or do you usually paint with such road strokes?

We are targeting 4 actors who have taken a stance against our country...I'd hardly call that everything.

You and John Robertson seem to have taken a wrong turn on your way to DU.

God Bless America!
