One thing I did forget John, and then I think it's really pointless to respond to your rants further, we collect no money at our site. I pay for it out of my own pocket.

It's just simpler to share info via one site. You don't have to click on the link simply b/c I put it there, you know.

Bye.

It's your call...I just report the details. You probably weren't aware Baldwin was in this movie...As many aren't. Does he deserve your money?

My infant son has been watching the "Thomas The Tank Engine" DVD for a month now. He's totally into Thomas. Imagine my surprise the other day when I sat down and took a close look at the movie and saw Alec Baldwin was playing the conductor. I just about had an aneurism. I chided my wife, telling her that she knew the rules about buying DVD with certain actors in them. She had to plead ignorance. Then, I got a few great laughs watching him make a total ass of himself in that role. Should I be afraid that Alec will subvert my 1-year-old's mind? I'll have to keep a really close eye on things, I guess.

review of Elf:

http://www.msnbc.com/news/985586.asp?0si=-

The not-so-great news: the development of this storyline is doggedly conventional. Indeed, the script by David Berenbaum (also responsible for Disney’s upcoming “Haunted Mansion”) often feels like a by-the-numbers rehash of “Miracle on 34th Street.” The New York scenes have merely been moved from Macy’s to Gimbels, where the sugar-driven elf-man finds a home away from home in the toy department.

“Elf” is so similar to the dozens of Christmas movies that turn up on television every night between now and year’s end that it’s unlikely it will still be playing in theaters by Christmas Eve. Ferrell and Deschanel achieve a lovely chemistry, and the rest of the actors couldn’t be more appropriately cast, but the script plays like a first draft.

Have you seen Finding Nemo? Our family--adults and children alike--found it to one of the year's favorites.

Those that get too far out in front usually manage to tick off enough people that we can't see their characters through their persona any more. But for me, they have to be way out there for me to stay away from an otherwise good film, or an otherwise good product

I know what you mean... I'd never patronize anything w/ Babs Streisand, because no matter what she's doing I know what an evil, arrogant, hate-filled person she is. It'd be like trying to admire Hitler's artistic abilities. BUT that's totally different from a situation in which I know that someone is liberal, but they don't attack people like me or seem to think they should be listened to simply because they're famous. Even Asner doesn't offend me all that much, even though he's essentially a Communist, because his approach seems fairly passive (judging only from what I've seen/heard). An actor has to make it clear that they HATE people like me in order to get on my boycott list -- not that they merely disagree with my political stance.

You and John Robertson seem to have taken a wrong turn on your way to DU.

An FR Classic.

Damn, you caught me. I'm a flaming liberal. Please, please don't rat me out and get me banned. How about if I go to the movie but promise to yell obscenities at Ed Asner through it?

It wasn't a rant. It was a point-by-point response to your snarky message to me (twisted panties, remember?).

As for your claim that "we collect no money at our site. I pay for it out of my own pocket"...uh, what about the t-shirts you're selling there? It says they're $8. So...how to you sell something...without collecting what you charge for it? And you appear to have links there which may bring revenue to you. I guess I'm just confused about this whole money thing.

I also looked at your content: You list Ed Asner as "starring" in Elf. Will Ferrell stars in it. Ed Asner appears in it. Three scenes.

You say Alec Baldwin "stars" in Cat in the Hat. Appears. Two scenes. Mike Myers is the star.

You say Alec Baldwin "stars" in The Cooler. Appears. Three scenes. William H. Macy stars in it.

Well, thank God that, every time I get sucked into one of these You-can't-see-that-movie-'cause-some-gosh-darned-lib-mighta-had-something-to-do-with-it threads, there's at least one other sane person who goes against the tide, and doesn't swarm like so many do around a truly intellectually weak premise. Thanks for being one on this thread.

Their heads would probably spin around and flames shoot out their eyes if I told them I rented 'Finding Nemo' for my kids to watch tonight. After all, I understand Ellen DeGeneres does one of the voice overs. By the end of the movie my daughters and their girlfriend spending the night will probably all be lesbians.

Good for you. It is obvious from your post that you have your children's best interests in mind. You are right, too, in that circumstances beyond your control will eventually undo some of the good you have done. It's a shame.

Yes, Nemo is a splendid movie, even if it stars the voices of those evil libs, Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks. Of course, all you'd have to do to explain to your three-year-old why he can't see Nemo is make him understand the ideology of those two, and I'm sure he'd be okay with it. Yeah, he'd nod and say, I understand why I can't see the movie, Dad--thanks for apprising me on their politics.

Good weekend!

Well I have to say, not only was Nemo a great movie, DeGeneres was absolutely hysterical in it. I expected her to be a good back up character but she stole the entire movie. Lib or not, lesbian or not, that woman is a riot.

You have a good weekend, too.
