The best carpenter I have ever used was a Ralph Nader voter. I actually agree with Sinkspur on this one. I also have (gasp) friends and relatives who are liberals. But then again I do live in Massachusetts where you can't take a step and not run into a liberal so I guess I am used to it.

Prostitutes are mostly drug addicts and I doubt they register to vote and I sure as hell wouldn't allow a filthy drug addict into my home around my family! Tax collectors - STAY AWAY PLEASE!!! (I'm not Jesus.)
I know you're trying to get me into a Biblical discussion. I thought this was about Ted Kennedy and how one of his pals is a SENIOR ADVISOR to our new governor.

Saundra, before going off half-cocked, you may want to re-read the article you posted. It does not say the woman is a FRIEND of Ted Kennedy, but a former employee who worked for him in the 1970's, for heaven's sake.
The language and paragraph construction used by the article's author, Weintraub, is designed precisely to get under the skin of worried conservatives such as yourself. He characterizes her appointment as "eye-popping" even though Reiss has been a Swarzenegger friend for a quarter-century and worked on his campaign for governor. Weintraub discusses her appointment first, in a heated way. Then, in the rest of the article, he all but glosses over much more conservative appointments, describing them in cool, matter-of-fact, colorless language.
His article was bait for people of your generally anti-Arnold position, and you fell for it.

Good grief, Saundra! Arnold appoints one person previously associated with Ted Kennedy and you act like the sky is falling!

"I thought this was about Ted Kennedy and how one of his pals is a SENIOR ADVISOR to our new governor."
It was, but then you turned it into a ludicrous rant about what Free Republic has become. I always thought Free Republic was a place where intelligent, reasoned discourse took place. That still seems to be happening for the most part but your comments show that it is not always the case. Why don't you wait until Arnold actually does somethigng before you blast away?
To: 68 grunt
It's "nice" to see such diversity in the Republican party.
Soon, perhaps, we can just get rid of the pesky labels of Democrat or Republican. Cause there won't be a difference.(sigh) (sarcasm)

This is precisely why my brother, a CA resident, was against this person. Something called unproven character.
Conservative in name only. Just what Clinton strove to prove he was, too.
To: Hildy
Good gravy, he appointed someone he's known for 25 years - who happens to be a liberal.
I can't believe the anti Arnolds are still crying wolf.

I won't allow a liberal democrat into my home.If I adopted that policy, I'd have to turn away about a third of my family from Thanksgiving dinner.

Officially, Reiss will focus on retaining Californias entertainment industry and on childrens issues. Seems to me that's a place she can do little or no harm.
But she will also be a sounding board for Schwarzenegger, an anchor from his former life as he enters a world filled with advisers and associates with whom he has little history and about whom he knows little.
That part is pure hyperbole. Had he appointed her to something substantial, I'd be concerned. But he didn't.
To: billbears
Arnold won and he won big time. He's going to make a success of his governship, just as he has in all his endeavors. CA is now in play for POTUS and all other Republicans who will challenge democrats in 2004, in state races and in races for the US House and Senate.
Our GOP glass is more than half full. Thanks to Arnold winning the election, Latinos are no longer property of democrats. Independents overwhelmingly voted for Arnold too. What percentage of the black vote did he get? Thirteen percent or more if memory serves. This is not just GOOD, it's great.
Your so-called "fear for whatever Arnold's victory means for the future of the RNC" is hilarious.
Politics is about WINNING, and *gasp* compromise.

One thing you used to be able to count on was that we ALL - to the one - were united against Ted Kennedy and his ilk. I guess that argument would have more appeal if I were assured that we ALL on FR -- to the one -- were united in support of George W. Bush.
