The folks at RCP were EXTREMELY accurate in calling nearly every '02 Senate race within a point or two. Incredible. They NAILED the Ky race.

Why would anyone run against Bush in Kentucky(outside maybe inner city Louisville) as a tactic against Fletcher(who has won a tough district)?
It's not like Kentucky is known for elitist types that sneer at 'cowboys', and Louisville is dem, but not Detroit.
To: Holden Magroin
It's an off year election, no surprises that turnout is lower.
To: Torie
True...Plus, voter turnout is higher during presidential races.

I think Musgrove performed much better in 1999 in DeSoto than he has tonight. I haven't actually checked totals from 1999, but the people here tell me that the county was more RAT back then before all the white flight from Memphis.

thanks. I never thought I'd live to see a MS thread top 1000 replies.
nighty, night! zzzzzz.....

Mississippi portends nothing, except that well, the Dem nominee in 2004 probably should just limit their campaigning to maybe Louisiana and Arkansas and Florida, and maybe Virginia, with the odds that Bush will shut the Dem out just like last time. There just are not that many swing voters in the South anymore, outside of Yankee influenced areas, and Mississippi has exactly zero of those.

They ran against the economy and Nafta. They lost big time.

The odds are 100% he will win, and 98% that he will get 50% outright.

I've hiked all of them. The top trails are fairly challenging for novices...not much room for error...lol
Linville Gorge wilderness area is really good for eastern hiking.
Greenies need some real world shock treatment....like a Congo war or something of that nature....they truly need to be de-programmed and have to resort to the an understanding of the harsh realities of the human condition.
...and to forget that Gaia crap....Mother Nature will kill yer ass given the opportunity. She is to be respected, not worshipped.

Looks like Barbour didn't get out the vote in DeSoto. Bush beat Gore, 24,879-9,586 in that county. Barbour beat Musgrove, 18,177-8,621.But that's very good. Nobody expected Barbour to win by a 17% margin, as President Bush did. Barbour beat Musgrove 68-32 in DeSoto; Bush beat Gore 72-28. So Barbour's margin was only about 8% less than Dubya's. That's great!
