What precincts are left?
To: Torie
Torie, what's your analysis of the Mississippi outcome? Does it portend something good for us next November or is it just the aging of all us baby-boomers with a more conservative slant on life? Is it the War on Terror or the love for our President that's causing the shift to (R)?

DeSoto County: Barbour 18,177 69%
Musgrove 8,621 31%
'Tis over.
To: lormand
Haley's raw vote lead is increasing...up to about 34,000 votes from 22,000 a few percentage points ago. I think barring something real strange, Haley can take this one to the bank.

Ya, but the swing away from Bush was only 4%, and Musgrave needs an overall swing statewide away from Bush of 7%. I would be surprised if the drop turnout in DeSoto was more than the drop in turnout statewide vis a vis 2000.

They said that Musgrove was "making his way to the stage" about 10 mins. ago, but not a peep since.
In fact, they have switched from convention hall coverage to studio coverage again. Now there asking Ray Mabus and Chip Pickering for analysis. Who knows what the he!! is going on?
Now Tuck is at her podium proclaiming her victory.

For a small state like MS, Barbour's lead in DeSoto is significantly smaller than Bush's. Hopefully, a few thousand votes won't make a difference.
To: Bogey78O
Alas, I do not know.
To: ambrose
Mulholand was absolutely hilarious that night. Especially on Fox news.
"So let me get this right Mr Mulholland, A republican winning a major victory in a heavily Democratic state is a bad thing for President Bush?
I was floored.

Naw, Barbour will win. I know that because on my way home from Boston this evening, nary a word was spoken about Mississippi or Kentucky but I did hear that Street was winning and that New Jersey was probably going to get a dem majority in the senate.
To: rushmom
Basically Jackson. Large dem population

I bought Matt's book too. Haven't read it yet though.

Yeah, I've got his blog page bookmarked. I just seem to recall that, like our old friends at Portrait of America, he bet on Bush winning big in 2000.
Again, this is from mammary. So did everyone else, iirc, save Zogby. It was the DUI story that threw things to Gore.
Be Seeing You,
