Ok, with that margin in Alcorn, I am now declaring Barbour the winner, assuming your numbers are correct.

AMEN to that! Something has to be done. "Non-Partisan elections" would have only added to the chaos.
The NYC GOP needs "A Few Good Men".

Pres Pro Tem of State Senate who switched parties. Has a large black % in his district. Took real courage to switch. If he wins, perhaps party switching will take hold.
To: jwalsh07
Barbour will win outright John. Thanks for the verbiage though.

I hope you're right. Depends on how committed the voters were. Sometimes they don't turn out.

My little brother was born at the old spooky Baptist Hospital on North State.
I was born at Seymour Johnson in 57 while dad was at USAF tac-fighter training/school.
Odd...our reciprocal commonality..lol

So far Tuck has 61%. Looks like the GOP will get the Gov, Lt. Gov, Auditor and Treasurer...let the Dems have the rest < g >, the GOP is in control of the money now!
I say they should audit the heck out of the legislatures books and all executive departments!

It looks to me that Barbour is about a 90% odds on winner now.I agree. Though Mississippi's population is diverse to say the least, and some counties may go 80-20 one way or the other, I don't recall any prior instances of any group in Mississippi "holding back" a bloc of votes a la Chicago.
When it comes to voting returns, Mississippi seems to be an equal opportunity state... equally s-l-o-w.

If Torie calls it, you can take it to the bank!
Remember that Torie called it for Landrieu really early when the Pubbie wasn't getting the margin she needed out of her counties.

You're right--I misread the digits on my own calculator. However, I also read that not all Kurds are Shia and that they are not entirely a homogeneous group. I can't remember the source of that information but I will look for it.
Leon Uris' book, The Haj, claims that in the Arab world, there are more Sunni's than Shia, which is not the case in Iran or Iraq. In spite of trying to confirm the total number worldwide of Shia versus Sunni, I have not been able to get a solid comparison.

May score a trifecta if Jindal can pull it off.

Travis Little is the Senate Protempore that switched with Amy Tuck from Democrat to Republican. He is the #3 in line behind the Governor and Lt. Governor and presides over several important state committees. 3 boxes out Little is ahead 6977 to 6526.
