[history]
Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

My first question to you is why does it seem Tom Ridge ignores us?Short answer is: You're not ignored; you're just not heard.
VERY Long Answer is: Try to picture to yourself, all the traffic that goes across FreeRepublic in the course of a day. Can one person follow it - ALL of it? At once? Can't be done - so that's where we analysts come into the game. Folks watching different areas for different things. Each mission has a unique CCIR list - Commander's Critical Information Requirement. It's a Green-suit term, but it applies to this as well.
The analysts comb the airwaves, and the Web, and take in reports from other agencies, and all that gets lumped into the common pot. It's then, the staffer's call to see what gets passed up the chain, or over to the other agencies. "Hey George, did you catch this report off the wire?" That kind of thing. Some of it's informal, others are passed through channels.
My mission is MSCA - Military Support of Civilian Authority. We're the guys who detail the National Guard assets to the states in case of emergency - weather, natural disaster, 9-11 redux, etc. As such, we have traffic monitors, Web surfers (me), and duty watches set up to catch it all.

Did you all read about the decoy suitcase bomb left by the Wash. monument today? Security never picked up on it. It's on Drudge.

I also think they'll 'deal' with us, first Common sense says to take out the most immediate threat first...that would be us. Get us in chaos, running around trying to take care of thousands of wounded and cleaning up an environmental and financial disaster...then take SA. And Pakistan.

OOPS! It wasn't today and it wasn't in a suitcase. I should have read the whole article first:
Park Police Bomb Their Terrorism Test
By Richard Leiby
Tuesday, January 13, 2004; Page C01
In broad daylight on Sept. 11, 2003, somebody deposited what could have been a "dirty bomb" at the Washington Monument. U.S. Park Police never noticed.
It wasn't a real bomb, just a suspicious-looking black plastic bag stuffed with garbage. And the culprits weren't terrorists, but investigators from the Interior Department's Office of Inspector General, out to demonstrate the monument's vulnerability on that infamous anniversary.
As documented in photos and a memo obtained by The Reliable Source, the feds left the bag at the rear of the obelisk for 20 minutes, then moved it near a security checkpoint where tourists lined up to enter the landmark. "Again, the unidentified bag sat there, undisrupted and unnoticed, for roughly 15 minutes," wrote Inspector General Earl E. Devaney in the memo, citing his "grave concerns for the security and public safety at these facilities."
No Park Police could be seen on patrol, except for one in an unmarked car who "appeared to be sound asleep," Devaney wrote.
The memo, now in the hands of the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, has some staffers in stitches. But Rep. Jim Turner (D-Tex.), ranking committee member, is outraged. "Without a doubt, if there had been a terrorist attack on the Washington Monument on Sept. 11, 2003, hundreds of tourists could have been killed," Turner told us yesterday. "Usually when we say someone was asleep at the wheel, it is just an expression, but this time, the Park Police were literally asleep at the wheel. . . . Someone needs to be held accountable for this."
The memo increased controversy surrounding Park Police Chief Teresa C. Chambers, whom the National Park Service moved to fire last month after she publicly called the 620-member force overstretched and underfunded. Chambers, placed on leave and under a gag order from her bosses, can't comment. But supporters say she ordered an investigation, confirmed the lapses and tried to fix them -- all while under attack from what her attorney calls "internal terrorists."
Tomorrow: deeper inside the Washington Monument "sleeper cell."

"The countdown has started for the hitting of stronger hitting America from the nuclear weapon Therefore they got ready therefore except if America withdrew from Iraq and Afghanistan And all of the Islamic states and who with them ordered the settlement of the rulers and who He was with them ." Thanks for posting this information, I like the we report you decide part!!
Part of the AQ translation fits in with the supposed letter to DC with their demands or else threat. Anyone remember that? Also appears to threaten SA and those leaders in the ME who support us as was mentioned many times in BL diatribe (last audio tape).

Didn't they say in some of their ranting that the "coming blow" would cause the US to be so focused on its own internal problems that forces would be pulled out of the Middle East to deal with things here?
