Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

One other scenario no one is addressing.That would be to blow up Baghdad when they see they have failed with the resistance. It would wipe out a bunch of our troops.If AQ suddenly disappears and the small attacks stop it would be time to worry.

I've been at my watch desk at the Ops Center, watching the I-95 tanker blasts. Reports are still coming in, but the open media is catching up to the situation.

Advice: Don't waste your time on the webcams. The views aren't good, and the refresh rates are tanking for all the activity.

I hang out on eom_and_daleel as well. I am a newbie to this terrorist tracking game, some of the people there have been tracking EOM and others since before 9/11.

While these web posting jihadis may be jokers and hoaxes over all, some of the Arabic postings that have been translated are really creepy and I tell you, IMHO there has never been a time more likely to see a nuclear detonation on US soil than now.

While many of the posters may be hoaxers, I think the threat is very real. I am prepared to eat crow if this all turns out to be psy ops. But I am keeping potassium iodide handy 24/7 this month.

Do you see Israel/S.A. before here? I think if any nuclear weapon is used, it will be after other attacks bulding up to that one strike. However, wasting a city first, then giving demands could be just as likely. Who really knows. Just hang on for a while and hope that we can stop some of it.

WASHINGTON, DC: The Washington Post is today reporting that a well-executed "dirty bomb" attack on a U.S. city could expose hundreds of people to potentially lethal amounts of radiation, researchers said yesterday in a Pentagon-funded study that sharply raises estimates of the human toll from such an attack.

The study also predicts massive financial losses -- perhaps greater than those caused by the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks -- if a large dirty bomb were set off in the heart of New York or Washington. A dirty bomb uses conventional explosives or other means to spread radiation.

"The threat of a radiological attack on the United States is real, and terrorists have a broad palette of [radiological] isotopes to choose from," says the study by the Center for Technology and National Security Policy at the National Defense University. "It could cause tens to hundreds of fatalities under the right circumstances, and is essentially certain to cause great panic and enormous economic losses."

Announcing the lowering of the threat level Friday, after 19 days of intense nationwide security precautions, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said that the United States would however "maintain particular vigilance around some critical resources and locales," The Washington Post reported Saturday.


Without giving details he said most of the increased security would involve "the private sector" and this included airlines.


Sources told the paper those facilities included eight airports, including those in Washington, New York, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.


The move signals a major departure in US strategy on internal security, in which officials "communicate quietly with local officials who need to ramp up security in specific areas" rather than issue costly blanket alerts encompassing the entire country, the Post noted.

The change reflects narrower, more "sophisticated" risk assessments concerning specific facilities, locations and types of infrastructure, homeland security sources said.

When you get time Sarge you would not believe some of the finding's here and were we are headed. We also notify DHS,FBI etc when something is noteworthy. Many things have been posted on this thread weeks before they come out on the news. Like yesterday the news validated the 2 AirFrance Flights, the one AeroMexico and the plans for crashing them into possibly a nuke plant etc and Vegas on NYE. Well buddy, we had this on this very thread weeks ago.

CHICAGO (Reuters) - A man with a grudge called authorities to falsely accuse relatives of being al Qaeda members and planning attacks on Chicago landmarks, the FBI said on Tuesday.
Abdul Rauf Noormohamed, a U.S. citizen born in India, was charged with making false statements to the government in anonymous telephone calls the FBI says were motivated by a family dispute. He faces up to five years in prison.

Noormohamed, 59, was released on $100,000 bond on Tuesday following his arrest on Monday at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport as he was preparing to fly to Egypt.

Investigators do not know the nature of the family argument or why the Chicago resident was traveling to Egypt, an FBI spokesman said.

The anonymous caller warned that bombs were being assembled to blow up landmarks including the Sears Tower and O'Hare, the FBI said.

The calls began four weeks ago and prompted officials to waste hours looking into whether the family members belonged to Osama bin Laden's extremist group, the agency said. He also accused some of his relatives of belonging to Islamic Jihad.

"Given our heightened state of alert, it's unconscionable for someone to exploit the situation to settle a personal vendetta," FBI special agent in charge Thomas Kneir said.
