Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

Monday, November 3, 2003

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Not to mention how they can believe some of the mess they do believe. My Lord, no wonder they are crazy. Having to wrap your mind around some of that stuff will blow gaskets.

"This group is actually outside the fold of Islaam and its adherents are not considered Muslims. Its founder, Rashid Khalifah, came up with a mathematical formula around the number 19 and claimed that the Qur'ân was constructed around this number."

Not entirely strange. According to some, the band Tool constructed their album Lateralus around the number 13 and the Fibonacci sequence.

If memory serves me correctly, the word Faluga has its origins as the site of a battle in the early days of Islamic history. I have searched with Google and can't find the detains - I'll try to check a book later tonight. Two references I have been able to find in google that are relevant for Faloga (perhaps spelled Faluga) are:

Faluga Brigade, the only Egyptian army division to distinguish itself in the 1948 Palestine war

There is a military industrial site west of Baghdad named Faluga that was searched by weapons inspectors

The name recurs in enough places in the Islamic world though for me to be pretty confident in my memory that it has its origins in early Islam but I could be wrong - certainly wouldn't be the first time :)

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Los Angeles International Airport police said a man was arrested Sunday evening for trying to pass airport security checkpoints with a loaded shotgun in his car.

According to Los Angeles International Airport police Sgt. Robert Richardson, during a random vehicle check at the entry to LAX, officers assigned to the airport security detail asked Sultan Abdul-Malik to pull over his car for officers to inspect. Officers discovered Abdul-Malik had a loaded shotgun and a .22 caliber handgun in the trunk of his car.

"We were doing a routine inspection of vehicles coming into the airport," Richardson told NBC4. "We discovered the subject, he had two firearms. He's being detained for further investigation."

Police impounded Abdul-Malik's car and notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

According to Richardson, Abdul-Malik never registered the guns.

Authorities said Abdul-Malik has a prior felony conviction. His bail was set at $35,000.

The checkpoints at LAX remained open Monday.

I wish they would say whether he had a ticket, what was he doing there, where was he going etc. The news just kind of skims over a lot of stuff.
