Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Hmmm, thanks for the scare. I just drove right by there. I wasn't familiar with New Era, but I see on Yahoo Maps that it is a few miles SW of Oregon City. I do know that there is a concentration of Russians in the general area, so that part of the story sounds about right. But there is no source for this story, just a website with no contact information. Not very credible, but interesting to think about.

that could be a possibility. i think that they had good reason to go down, though. if there is a nuclear attack, and they tried blaming going to yellow on incompetance, then there is no hope for our current administration staying in office. i don't know what to think about EOM though. these new posts kinda worry me, but i guess we'll just have to wait. i have my doubts about him though. he's been claiming the attacks are going to happen soon, and the attacks he's hinted at have all sounded different. i just hope we can prevent anything horrible.

Bolivia holding nine Bangladeshis suspected of plot to attack U.S. target in Argentina

LA PAZ, Bolivia (AP) -- The Bolivian government said Friday it was questioning nine Bangladeshis after French police warned the group may have been planning to hijack an airplane for an attack on an American target in Argentina.

"We cannot confirm them," Interior Minister Alfonso Ferrufino said of the French police warnings.

The Bangladeshi suspects are being held in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz. A second official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said seven other people -- nationalities not provided -- had been questioned and released.

Bolivian police said they received an urgent warning from Mare Bertrand, a police attache at the French Embassy, that said: "French intelligence services have received information that leads us to think that the citizens from Bangladesh may board planes in South America, hijack them and crash them against U.S. targets."

The Santa Cruz daily El Deber reported that the group was planning to fly to Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Dec. 2, but the airline, Aerolineas Argentinas, canceled the flight "at the last minute."

According to Bolivian officials, the Bangladeshis flew from France to Argentina and on to Bolivia.

It wasn't immediately clear when they arrived in Bolivia.

Prosecutor Jaime Soliz said the Bangladeshis will be sent to Argentina.

Police identified the detained suspects as Jahangir Alam, 24; Morad Hossain, 27; Mihir Lal Ray, 30; Mohammed Jalkaria, 26; Anwar Hossain, 24; Ahmed Chowdhury Fares, 25; Mohammed Mahubud Alam, 24; Mohammed Eftaker Hossen, 24, and Sohel Rana, whose age was not known.

Last week, Argentina ordered security to be stepped up near the U.S., Spanish, British and Italian embassies in Buenos Aires after government officials said they received foreign intelligence warnings of possible terrorist threats.

Defense Minister Jose Pampuro said Argentina also had boosted border patrols after receiving warnings from "two international intelligence services" -- whom he did not identify -- that an attack could be imminent.

Argentina was hit by two terrorist attacks during the 1990s, both of them targeting the country's Jewish community, Latin America's largest with an estimated 200,000 people.

A March 1992 bombing destroyed the Israeli Embassy in Buenos Aires, killing 28 people. Two years later, a blast at a Jewish community center killed 85 people in the Argentine capital and wounded more than 200 others.

A while ago I posted a story about the Mythbusters program on the Discovery Channel testing the myth of explosive decompression on an airliner by shooting a hole in the fuselage with a firearm. Tonight was the show and guess what? A 9mm shot through the fuselage and through a window did not cause any explosive decompression. Suck on that, you weenies who are afraid of having firearms on planes! (OK, it's not a strictly scientific test, but good enough qualitative evidence for me). It took a pretty good sized explosive before you could rip a big enough hold in a airliner to cause it to have explosive decompression. It looked like the charge they used could have fit into a shoe, although it would have been a tight fit (yes, the Shoe Bomber probably would have brought down the plane).

A lot of key infrastructure, like airports, nuclear installations, cargo carriers, etc. did NOT go down to yellow alert, they are still on the highest alert they have ever been.

The French police are convinced that their country has escaped a planned chemical or biological attack by an Islamist cell linked to al-Qaida. An interior ministry official said evidence from Islamist militants arrested in the Lyon area last week made it "very plain" that an attack with the deadly botulism or ricin toxins was being actively prepared.

As little as one drop of the botulism toxin released into a building's ventilation system can be fatal. Ricin is one of the deadliest poisons to occur naturally, many times deadlier than cyanide and capable of being given in food and drink without affecting the taste.

Phase II
Abdul Hakim Murad confessed details of Phase II in his torture and interrogation with Manila police after his capture. (for more information, see Section:Murad's Confession)

Phase two would have involved Abdul Hakim Murad either renting, buying, or hijacking a small airplane. The airplane would be filled with explosives. He would then crash it into the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Murad had been trained as a pilot in North Carolina, and was slated to be a suicide pilot. Murad probably cooked up this version of the plan.

There were alternate plans to hijack a 12th commercial airliner and use that instead of the small aircraft, probably due to the Manila cell's growing frustration with explosives. Testing explosives in a house or apartment is dangerous, and it can easily give away a terrorist plot. Khalid Sheik Mohammed probably made the alternate plan.

A report from the Philippines to the United States on January 20, 1995 stated, "What the subject has in his mind is that he will board any American commercial aircraft pretending to be an ordinary passenger. Then he will hijack [the] said aircraft, control its cockpit and dive it at the CIA headquarters."

Another plot the men were cooking up would have involved hijacking of more airplanes. The Sears Tower (Chicago, Illinois), The Pentagon, the Washington Capitol, the White House, the Transamerica Tower, and the World Trade Center would be the likely targets.

In his confession with Filipino investigators, Abdul Hakim Murad said that the Manila cell could not recruit enough people to implement Phase III prior to the foiling of Operation Bojinka.

yeah, i've read that as well. i was just saying, EOMs threats aren't specific, and usually sound as if he is targetting american cities. which ones, i don't know. even one is too many. his threats also sound like they point towards a nuclear attack of some sort. lowering the national threat level to yellow with the possibility of a nuclear attack doesn't seem very reasonable to me. i've heard many reports about possible attacks on nuclear plants, and i'm hoping those aren't their targets. thinking back now, it does sound like a likely scenario that some of the jihadis have been pushing around, even from EOM. that site gives alot of good information from some of the reports i've read. discounting all of them. hopefully my belief is correct and we have good information that lead to stopping attacks.

i read a post on another message board about this rise in gold and silver. they said gold usually increases in value around january. he does admit that it is a bit higher this year, but there are plenty of reasons for it. going to code orange for one. not sure how valid his statments are, but it sounds reasonable.
