OSAMA bin Laden's al-Qaeda terror network is planning a "death blow" against Americans during the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, a Saudi magazine reports in its issue due out today.
"Al-Qaeda is going to carry out a death blow against Americans during the month of Ramadan," Al-Majallah said, quoting an e-mail sent by Abu Mohammed al-Ablaj, identified as a senior member of al-Qaeda.
Ablaj, who regularly communicates with the London-based weekly via e-mail, did not specify if the threatened strike will be carried out in the United States or against American interests abroad.
"Muslims have the right to draw the blood of Americans, civilian or military, everywhere in the world," Ablaj said.
He did not dismiss the possibility of a "painful" strike in Iraq, which is currently under a US-led occupation following the overthrow of dictator Saddam Hussein.
"Bin Laden has ordered his supporters to carry out a guerrilla war against Arab and Muslim countries where there is an American military and commercial presence," Ablaj said.
"The guerrilla war decided by bin Laden and his assistants won't be limited to martyr (suicide) operations mentioned in his last two messages. This (war) will be carried out by other means and (using) different types of weapons," he added.
In a message purported to be from bin Laden and aired on October 18 by Qatar's Al-Jazeera television station, the terror chief threatened to send suicide bombers to the United States and attack any forces joining the US-led coalition in Iraq.
As our President once quipped, "Bring it on."
Somebody needs to remind these little boys that we have a little surprise in store for Mecca should they try something funny.
Saudi terror threat to travellers. Canada, U.S. warn their citizens to avoid the Gulf state
Attacks `in final planning stage,' says Ottawa advisory
RIYADHThe United States said yesterday it had credible information of a threat of attacks on aviation and other Western targets in Saudi Arabia, and urged its citizens to defer non-essential travel there.
And in Ottawa, Foreign Affairs warned Canadians to avoid trips to the Persian Gulf Arab state.
"There are credible reports of renewed terrorist attacks in the final planning stage in Saudi Arabia," the Ottawa advisory states. "Tourist travel to Saudi Arabia should be avoided until further notice. Canadians should not travel ... unless they have critical or compelling business or family reasons."
The travel advisory posted on the department's Web site yesterday urges the estimated 8,000 Canadians already in the country to maintain "a high level of personal security awareness at all times and in all places." A Saudi official played down the warnings as an "exaggerated precaution" and said authorities would continue to thwart any terrorist plots in the world's largest oil exporter.
The U.S. embassy in the capital Riyadh had earlier warned Americans of possible attacks during the holy Muslim month of Ramadan in the kingdom, birthplace of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, but the new advisory was the first to discourage travel. Bin Laden, in an audio tape aired Oct. 18, had vowed more suicide attacks inside and outside the United States.
"The U.S. government continues to receive indications of terrorist threats aimed at American and Western interests, including the targeting of transportation and civil aviation," the U.S. advisory said.
I suppose it could be said the President was bending the rules.
It's a good thing the White House is hosting Ramadan dinners, or else Muslims might not think of us in such a warm and fuzzy way. /sarcasm
Sounds like we just need to hold all of islam responsible for this.
A nuclear device detonated at 1145 on a Tuesday in a downtown city will do that in a heartbeat.
Before you know it, Fox will digitally superimpose ads for Joe Millionaire on the sides of Ryder trucks and jumbo jets on video of terrorist attacks. </dark, dark humor>
You can bet that the targets have been identified and approved, the coordinates are programmed in and the warheads are already at the ready. This isn't like 9/11 when we were caught flat-footed. We know where most of the remaining terrorists are operating now. Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, even parts of Pakistan among other places. Any attack on the scale of 9/11 will be met within minutes by a massive nuclear attack on various targets throughout the Middle East where we have indications that terrorist activity exists. Now I'm not talking about doomsday here, I'm talking a controlled tactical nuclear strike that will for one and for all, wipe the majority of these terrorists off the planet.
You must understand. The economic impact of 9/11 was very, very substantial. Not only can the United States not afford a repeat, the entire western world cannot afford a repeat. If there is another attack on that scale, there will be no puttering around at the U.N. There will be no hand-wringing in the halls of Congress. By the time FoxNews breaks in to cover the attacks, the missiles will be on their way and most of the remaining terrorists will go bye-bye. Unfortunately, there will be innocent people who die in this response as well. But there's nothing we can do about that. The usual suspects like France and Germany will squeal and fuss, but deep down inside, they will feel relieved that we acted as we did. They will never admit it though.
I feel strongly about this. I believe that our government is prepared for just such a scenario and that they are prepared to respond to it with devastating force. In fact, it's quite possible that these intentions have already "been explained" to certain parties and that may explain why no major attacks have been carried out since 9/11.
If it seriously comes down to us or them... We have the intestinal fortitutde to eradicte islam (however painfully) from the face of the planet.
Rashid Abdullah ... please talk to Chief Running Thunder of the American Indians before thinking that we're not able wipe islam out.
