I seriously doubt that we have the intestinal fortitude to turn the Middle East into a glass parking lot.

You can bet that the targets have been identified and approved, the coordinates are programmed in and the warheads are already at the ready. This isn't like 9/11 when we were caught flat-footed. We know where most of the remaining terrorists are operating now. Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, even parts of Pakistan among other places. Any attack on the scale of 9/11 will be met within minutes by a massive nuclear attack on various targets throughout the Middle East where we have indications that terrorist activity exists. Now I'm not talking about doomsday here, I'm talking a controlled tactical nuclear strike that will for one and for all, wipe the majority of these terrorists off the planet.

You must understand. The economic impact of 9/11 was very, very substantial. Not only can the United States not afford a repeat, the entire western world cannot afford a repeat. If there is another attack on that scale, there will be no puttering around at the U.N. There will be no hand-wringing in the halls of Congress. By the time FoxNews breaks in to cover the attacks, the missiles will be on their way and most of the remaining terrorists will go bye-bye. Unfortunately, there will be innocent people who die in this response as well. But there's nothing we can do about that. The usual suspects like France and Germany will squeal and fuss, but deep down inside, they will feel relieved that we acted as we did. They will never admit it though.

I feel strongly about this. I believe that our government is prepared for just such a scenario and that they are prepared to respond to it with devastating force. In fact, it's quite possible that these intentions have already "been explained" to certain parties and that may explain why no major attacks have been carried out since 9/11.

I would hope so. I would think that something short of 9/11, but significant would at the least warrant some very high altitude air-bursts over strategic locations to further convince those warned that nothing short of total cooperation will next be met with sure, total destruction. I would want to see immediate massive public executions of those terrorists that are well know to the ruling tyrants, including some of them.

And if the Frogs so much as croak a peep, assure them that they are not immune.

I as an American citizen, would be quite disapointed with anything less, F*** 'World opinion'. Enough is enough!

Can't say I agree. What would be the point of annihilating an entire city if only a couple hundred al Qaeda operatives live in its borders? The military has long since grown squeamish at such overkill. Note the almost complete reliance on precision-guided munitions instead of carpet bombing; note the military justice actions against officers who engage in effective interrogation of terrorist prisoners.

And you really want me to believe that we're going to change overnight and give the enemy the Full-Body Atomic Tan if they strike us again? Our catering to special interest groups and the "religion of peace" (gag) says otherwise.

You may be right Sam, but we have people over there including military. Think we would blow them up? I doubt it. Any retaliation would be over a few weeks time, while we get our people home.

Personally I suspect that an accelerated plan to take down ALL government supporters of terrorism, starting with Iran, would be put into action immediately. If nukes, dirty bombs, or chemical weapons start flying in US cities then there isn't much to loose by shutting down the Saudi's and Syrians much less the Hizb'Allah whacko's in the territories and Lebanon. Would we use nukes - I suspect only if the top military commanders conclude that they are the only way to achieve the mission.

The one mission I see as possibly requiring nukes would be to get the Muslim governments and thier populations to immediately halt all funding for terrorist groups. If the terrorists get strong enough it may come down to us or them and if thats the case then we don't have time for social change to convince the non-violent Muslims to change sides. So I suppose it could come down to GWB re-issuing his 'you're with us or against' us speach with the additional caveat that 'if you're not with us by noon tomorrow you will be with Allah.
