Steven Emerson was just on MSNBC. According to his description, there are two guards stationed at each entrance, at the machines. If the perp runs, there's no extra guard past the screening station, to block or pursue.

TOY GUN...heard on police radio
To: Darlin'
Supposedly with a toy gun. Found them on fifth floor.
To: 76834
So they were only armed and inside the building for an hour and a half before they were located?
To: Diddle E. Squat
Swat Team taking this very seriously.
FoxNews commentator speculates whether this (perps testing security) was some type of a dry-run.

its a total joke. I travel over various NYC bridges and tunnels every day. there is no security, just a single car with a flashing light that sits there at the "checkpoint".

Live on MSNBC - looking for a 5' 3" 130 lb man brown haired with suspected 38 caliber gun, avoided security in chase, is believed loose in bldg. Police have released a composite sketch:

I love happy endings, glad no crazy started shooting our congress people.
