Current fire is fast moving between Running Springs, Arrowhead and green valley towards the high desert area. I just watched that report from Patrick Healey too. The dumb anchors are acting like their all relieved that the fire is moving into the high desert, but the fire is marching straight towards Hesperia, which has a much larger population and many more structures then any of the communities down below. My aunt has already left.

Wrightwood would have been affected in the past few days since it's on the way up the mountain from San Bernardino.

They've probably never even HEARD of Hesperia. Thank God your aunt got out.

I don't know if someone has addressed this earlier, but I have a question. I saw close ups of a neighborhood where one house had been saved. While the other houses were gone, the trees and lawns were still green and standing.
The fires seems like such walls of flame, I don't know how the houses are burned without the trees going as well.
Thanks for any info.

leaving forces in town, going out to try and keep the fire flanked away from Julian. Fire had jumped hwy below, (79 i think) near Wyona, getting forces away from Julian, but will pull back in if town is threatened again. Large fires last night in dead pines areas around town, firestorms were really bad in the old growth areas. this came from fire chief. Primary goal is to save downtown Julian and every house possible. A quote from him (paraphrased) hopefully the greatest incident commander of all will help keep the winds favorable for them.

This is only a guess but sounds like the houses not saved had shake roofs and embers lit their roofs and burned the houses to the ground. If the other houses had tile or fiberglass roofs, they are harder to have embers land and burn down the houses. If you saw green grass/trees, they most likely had a sprinkler system going to wet everything down.
If these were older houses, the shake is just like dried timber and sparks can set off the fire on the roof.
