I suggest we let the Firefighters take over management of our forests. PERIOD
To: nicmarlo
with the wind shift and the heavy marine layer, it makes sense
To: nicmarlo
Thanks for the info -- that is really tragic to lose a firefighter.
Winds gusting to 50 mph in the SB Mountains tomorrow.

Dedicated to Steve Rucker, and all firefighters out there doing their best to keep the flames back....
A Fireman's Prayer
When I am called to duty, God
Wherever Flames may rage
Give me the strength to save some life
Whatever Be its age
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert and
Hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me
To guard my every neighbor
And protect their property
And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
Please bless with your protecting hand
My children and my wife

"Over in Stevenson Ranch, they said the humidity is a little too suddenly high "
You seem to have been posting on here a lot of hours. Are you sure your not over doing it. I tend to type things like that when I am exausted from following something and don't want to get away and get some rest. Don't over do it OK :) ?

bloated bureaucracies are immune Unfortunately, you are correct.
To: null and void
So do I. Keep your fingers crossed. It would also put alot of people back to work in the forests.

TO EVERYONE:
NOT ONE OF THESE FIRES HAS HIT A FIRE BREAK. WHT?, BECAUSE THE ENVIRO-ANIMAL-RIGHTS-WHACOS HAVE MADE THEM ILLEGAL !!!!
To: lainie
very true....I hope this is a good sign, lack of reports.
To: sf4dubya
No, the word "erratic" was all I heard. FF companies had to report in to dispatch and indicate they heard and understood.
Bad. And the humidity is supposed to be under 30% above 4000 feet elevation.

I have friends that live(d) on Posthill Rd and the road was one of the last ones opened. They are safe as are their animals which is the most important thing.
The fire was extremely fast and that was the scariest part. They found 1 body in Alpine and there was a story about the firefighters in Julian being told to mark any bodies for the ME. :-( Crest was a sad sight. the folks at Catholic Social Services will be run off their feet now. Hope it gets better for you folks soon. Will pray.
To: sf4dubya
It is beginning to look like it is going to burn the whole mountaintop all the way across. This is hard to fathom.

They have an unreasonable, fanatical stand against logging, the one natural resource that is renewable.

FIRE BREAK .... ILLEGAL When did that happen? That's insane!!!
To: Kahuna
I agree. They know the potential dangers and how bad these fires can get. It would be wise to get some people in there who know what they are talking about.

Wow, I had no idea. One of these days I'm going to have to see the NE. Come see our Gifford P. Forest. It's beautiful and not polluted (except for the beetle kill!).
