It is probably time to file a class action suit against The Sierra Club and Earth First. I would love to get these morons into court under cross examination after testimony from a zillion forestry experts.....
Even home gardners know that one must thin their plants in order to gain a bumper crop. Healthy forests cannot survive in crowded conditions.
The emotional Hippys in these organizaitons are no more than moronic tools that promote one disaster after another.
I was wondering what more the Clinton Legacy could destroy. His executive orders that set aside millions of acres may eventually destroy all of our forests........
I would love to place him in front of a TV screen with all doors locked and require him to watch the video of the fireman spraying water on a burning bunny......
If his office has an E-Mail address, I wonder if I would be arrested if I expressed my opinion of his idiocy?

You're right :-) I'm just flapping my gums. er, fingers. That's OK. Plenty of people would be very upset to hear it, since it implies that they FF's are goofing off. Nobody cares about the 20 hours of work - its the 1/2 hour of chit-chat that upsets them.
I'm in the electric utility business and its the same here. Lots of coordination and behind the scenes stuff going on. Sometimes, there's lulls in activity as all the pieces of a puzzle are assembled before actually performing the work.

Essential service are always the first to be cut. It "incentivises" the peons to pay more taxes. Strangely, bloated bureaucracies are immune...

Freeway offramp.....the lane used to get off the freeway. Then, there's the freeway onramp, the one used to get on the freeway. : )

Well, here in Washington (Mt. Adams) IF the forestry dept. or private timber companies that own the land had been allowed to spray pesticide and then cut trees that were infested with the beetles very early on it could have been stopped, or slowed greatly. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO, can't go cutting a tree down, even if it's diseased. Now, (about 10 years too late) you can look at the mountain and see entire swaths of "red" (dead) trees. Large areas of beetle kill. It's just massive amounts of essentially dry kindling; a massive fire waiting to happen.
Now the beetle kill is spreading down into the valley (where I live) at the base of the Mt. The forestry dept, just a few months ago, put out these trap boxes, to catch bugs to get a count. We just laughed.
