President Bush's Message to the Grassroots: "I Need You"
Bush Team Leaders ^ | 10/28/03 | President George W. Bush

Posted on 10/28/2003 1:09:13 PM PST by Marcus Alonzo Hanna

Dear Republican,

Over the last few months, Laura and I have traveled the country and have been humbled by the enthusiastic support we have been given.

Our country has faced many challenges in the last two and half years and we are meeting these challenges at home and abroad. We're defeating the enemies of freedom. And at the same time, we're confronting challenges to build prosperity for our nation and a more compassionate society.

Every test has revealed the true character of America. And no one in the world can doubt the spirit and will and strength of the American people.

We are meeting the challenges of our time but there is much more to be done and I need your support. Will you join me in these efforts by volunteering for my re-election campaign as a Bush Team Leader?

As a Bush Team Leader you will be asked to help by volunteering at local events, hosting your own events, registering new voters, turning out voters on Election Day and more. Most importantly, you will be asked to recruit more Bush Team Leaders to help us win in November 2004. Please sign up to be a part of this important effort today.

The challenges we face cannot be met with timid actions or bitter words. They will be overcome with optimism and resolve and confidence in the ideals of America.

We are acting to advance human freedom and liberty and making the world and America more secure. We took action to create jobs and get the economy growing again.

We acted on principle. You did not send me to this office to mark time. You sent me here to restore dignity and honor to the White House and to help build a safe and prosperous and caring nation. Will you join me in this effort by becoming a Bush Team Leader and volunteer your time?

http://www.GeorgeWBush.com/SignUp/

I want to thank you for the work that you will do in the months to come. There is no question in my mind that with your help we are laying the foundation to win a great victory in November of 2004.

Sincerely,

George W. Bush

P.S. Again, thank you for making my campaign strong at the grassroots level all across the country. I am grateful to the over 300,000 Americans that have contributed to my campaign and the millions more who've signed up on the campaign email list. And I am grateful to everyone that chooses to volunteer in support of this effort. I need you to make certain your friends and family register to vote. I need you to make phone calls, send emails, help organize rallies, put up signs, and get out the vote. I need you to volunteer in my campaign today.

" Wish to discuss your political viability now, dagnabbit?"

Here I was, absorbing all this serious political discourse, and then I happen upon that.

Thanks Dane. :)

Pulling the covers over you head and hoping the bad guys don't infiltrate America is not quite what I'm looking for

Me either. To bad we have an anarchist immigration policy. It kinda makes the war on terror look as stupid as the war on drugs.

He's right.

He's leading in the right direction and the country is becoming more pro life.

In fact, I think right now there is a consensus for banning third trimester abortion excpet for the life of the Mom.

But I understand incrementalism, I've seen what the left has done with it in my lifetime.

In the meantime we'll be leaving our bumper stickers urging folks to Choose and Defend Life. :-}

You won't get much of an argument from me on the lack of a coherent immigration policy, in fact none at all.

We will elect George W. Bush in 2004 without them.

Odd. The President seems to disagree with you. Check out the title of this thread.

I respect your opinions.

Perhaps if Dr Paul were elected president he would have advice from the best and brightest in the field of national defense.

I'll take the chance that overall the wisdom of our founding fathers would see us through.

Retaliation.............................................

Is that what you call "rebuilding" iraq?

I'll take Dr. Paul's "Americans First" philosophy over the globalist point of view.

And as I always say to that statement, I'll settle for 50 or 60%. I'd vote for 80% in a minute unless the guy's character is crap.

PRO
Foreign Policy generally good
A minor tax cut.
Said he'd sign ban on lawsuits against gun manufacturers
Will sign Partial Birth Abortion ban.

Con
BIG spender with defecits
Nationalized Education
Said he'd sign the AW ugly gun ban
Poor control of borders
Patriot Act
Prescription Drugs.

Incomplete
Judges.

That's 40% That's it. And the fact that I'm even possibly CONSIDERING a vote for him after that says how bad the dems are. I'll compromise if it gains something. If it's giving up more than I gain, than that compromise simply isn't worth it.

One step forward and two steps back is unacceptable. Two steps forward, one back is.

Odd. "Grassroots" does not mean "conservative." And he doesn't mention that word once.

I thought at the time how would Clinton have answered the question if "choice" was subsituted for "life". I thought he would have made a campaign speech about the "choice" position.

It was refreshing to hear Bush answer the three questions, yes yes and no in about 3 seconds.

I will have to disagree with you. I believe in the spirit of the Founding Fathers, but to use their literal 18th century letters while trying to fight a 21st century war is misguided and naive, IMO.

Got the same email, Marcus. Acknowledging his Administration's flaws, bottom line is if he had not been President at this critical time in America's history, we would no doubt be experiencing Islamic suicide bombings on American streets right now. The Conservative community as a whole needs to grasp the myriad pressures he is under from a wide array of forces, special interest groups, and political scenarios which would be almost beyond Solomon's grasp. It is critical we all support him for 2004 (and Rummy right along with him)!

Defend Freedom!  AMERICA AT WAR
"And Caesar's spirit ranging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch's voice
Cry 'Havoc,' and let slip the dogs of war;
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth,
With carrion men groaning for buriel."

Shakespeare from Julius Caesar.

So you're saying that those of us on FR who worked our tails off for him at the local level, going door-to-door, driving voters to the polls, making calls, and coaxing xo-workers are NOT part of "grassroots" merely because we label ourselves as "conservatives"? That message ISN'T aimed at those us who worked like that in 2000 and have been since disillusioned by his domestic record? Very odd.

So are you saying that three steps backward and no steps forward(which the only other viable political alternative(demo)is) is more acceptable to you.
