Are they evacuating Yucaipa or is the evacuation to there At the moment Yuciapa is the objective for people in Barton Flats, Angelus Oaks, Forest Home, etc. Apple Valley is the objective for those in big bear.
Of course Yucaipa will be next to the fire if the reason for the evacuation comes to pass.

I was watching NBC local L.A. news about 20 minutes ago and Grey Davis was being interviewed by some suck-up leftist newsie who asked him if the revenue from the outrageous car tax he just imposed would be going toward local fire depts (knowing full well that she was tossing him the biggest softball of all time). Boy did he eat that one up!

If I had been in the studio at that time we would have been competing for space under that desk. You and me both! I planted myself in the office doorway during the Whittier quake and was promptly laughed at by my C.O., who informed me that the doorway wouldn't help if the hangar collapsed and all the fuel laden helicopters exploded. Yeah, maybe, but at least they would know where to look for my earthly remains...

Here comes a bomber. I expect the light colored trees are those that are dead from the beetles.

I have a low pressure area over my part of southeast Idaho. We've had average 37 knot winds with gusts to 45 all afternoon. That's the system that will be pulling in the offshore winds for you in the next few days. The air is full of fine dust from the steady west wind.

HWY 18 is the Rim of the World drive that goes around the top of the San Bernardino Mountains. If you drive east all the property if on your left and the right side is a pretty steep drop down into the San Bernardino Valley.

Chopper is over Lake Arrowhead. Wind is blowing smoke and flames towards the lake. "Bad news" says the pilot.

Great map! Thanks!
Watching Fox 11, which is on constant coverage now (amazing, a Fox station is actually focused on the fire!).
I'm watching two homes burn in Lake Arrowhead as we speak. They've evac'd the fire control center at Rim of the World High, and the lumberyard near the high school is a mass of flames. It does not look good, not good at all.

Firefighters on the ground in between the trees putting up a defense as the fire moves downhill toward the lake. Little wind except for what the fire is producing.
