Brush Patrol 74 just put out the fire in Granada Hills...

The unit pictured [here] is one of two LAFD Humvee's that have been in service for nearly seven years. While those cross-staffed units admittedly don't see as many responses in a day as an LAFD RA or Engine Company, they - like all LAFD Brush Patrols - are on active duty year-round. The Unit pictured was in service today [2/11/02] as Brush Patrol 47. Carrying Shop #60476, it is based out of a station in El Sereno. It's twin, Shop #60475, was staffed today by extra personnel from Fire Station 102. Serving as Brush Patrol 109, it is based out of a station on Mulholland Drive in the Encino Hills. The Humvee's have proven useful, but not to the point where we need an entire fleet. In fact there are a dozen *additional* LAFD Brush Patrol vehicles available daily, making for a fleet of 14. Mostly Ford 1T 4WD Pickups with skid-mounted pumps (and CAFS on the newest acquisitions) they are assigned to Fire Stations 8, 19, 24, 28, 35, 41, 44, 74, 83, 84, 94, 99.

In Spect17's link last night it mentioned topsecretrecipes.com and the directions for a reasonable facsimile of their burger is there.

My wife is just 3 1/4 miles from Zelzah up the road in granada hills. Having her take a look outside when she closes her store down, to see if she can see anything. Will report back.

No offense, but not much happens in the DelMarVa peninsula. Occassionally, there are stories about chicken waste problems. You have to admit that route 13 is a snoozer. I always make sure I am wide awake before I drive it.
And if there are more conservatives on the peninsula than there is credit given for it, why has Delaware been consistently voting for Democrats in the last 10 years? I thought it was really tacky when Delaware voted Roth out of office. His contribution was large and the voters couldn't care less about it. The two counties in Virginia that are a part of the DelMarVa (Accomack and Northampton)generally vote for the Democrat. However, Maryland's counties on the Eastern Shore tend to be fairly strong conservative areas.

I know that area well. Used the backway out of Yucaipa through Mentone a lot rather than I-10. That was one area of Redlands that I noticed stayed the same when I was back there recently.

The deal with In N Out is they are completely privately owned, deliberately. They do not want investors, stock, franchisees. Every single one is owned and operated by one family. I can respect that.
They are feeding the firefighters once again. Props to them.

No hummers in L.A Co. that I know of. We got the hovercrafts
Kewl looking hummer. I got to drive one maybe twice right before I got out of USAF out at Fort Irwin.

Isn't Highland where the Patton State Mental Hospital is?
They must be working hard to keep from having to evacuate that.
