No offense, but not much happens in the DelMarVa peninsula. Occassionally, there are stories about chicken waste problems. You have to admit that route 13 is a snoozer. I always make sure I am wide awake before I drive it.

And if there are more conservatives on the peninsula than there is credit given for it, why has Delaware been consistently voting for Democrats in the last 10 years? I thought it was really tacky when Delaware voted Roth out of office. His contribution was large and the voters couldn't care less about it. The two counties in Virginia that are a part of the DelMarVa (Accomack and Northampton)generally vote for the Democrat. However, Maryland's counties on the Eastern Shore tend to be fairly strong conservative areas.

I agree nothing much happens here (thankfully). And you better be wide awake driving Rte 13 - it's like a NASCAR track - it's dangerous driving.

I'm still wondering about the vote that ousted Bill Roth. Tom Crapper (I mean Carper) is the pits. Of course the votes that ousted Bill really aren't on DelMarVa - the peninsula starts below the C&D canal, and below the canal we voted for Bill. But they've got the numbers above the canal.

Ruth Ann Minner used to be a true southern Delaware Democrat (a dixiecrat) more conservative than liberal, I think Carper's influence got to her. But in general I will take a Sussex County Democrat over a New Castle County Republican any day.

The 2 counties of Virginia that make up the lower part of DelMarVA have had a Republican in the House of Delgates for 26 years and a another in the Senate for a goodly number of years as well. I've only lived in Accomack County for 6 months, so I'm not totally sure of all the politics, but I have quickly learned that this is conservative territory - big time. The Dem candidate for the House of Delegates make many of the Northern Delaware Republicans look like Hillary Clinton.

Compared to the Western shore of Maryland, the lower eastern shore counties are more conservative.

In general nothing happens here and most people don't know we even exist, unfortunately those that have discovered us are the problem. I'm hoping those problems stay in Delaware. I moved to Accomack County in part to get away from the northeast liberal mindset that has overtaken Delaware.
