ESPN radio was reporting at lunchtime that entry to the game was free, but they were going to request donations at the gate that would go to a wildfire victims' relief fund. YOu are correct. Admission to the game tonight was free, but patrons were asked to make donations to the Relief Fund. Also, according to the MNF Crew, a portion of concessions money will be donated.
Interestingly, the MIA-SD game has a crowd of approx 65,000. Yesterdays AZ Cardinal game only drew 40,000

That's what I thought. So, the fire capt'n being concerned about the fire going all the way over to Malibu is valid.

In the desert north of the mtn range (Arrowhead fire would be to my south-southeast)
I'm fine. No fire danger. I'm just commenting that the winds are definately a-changing.

Isn't the coverage appalling. Worthless bunch of cable news channels if you ask me. It isn't news they are reporting, it is sensationalisim not hard news or they are covering the RAT debate. Makes me want to scream.
No homes lost in Chatsworth area yet. The County Fire Department stopped the fire in one of the resident's houses.

Who posted the pic of the red spots with the smoke on the USA map a few times on yesterdays thread?
Be nice to have an update of that map.

"For the very first time since this whole thing started, I can smell smoke."Don't panic. Stay safe.

That is the worst drive I have ever been on although I preferred to drive then ride in the passenger side where you look straight down it seems forever. I know I couldn't drive that at night!

Old Womyn Springs Road Awww, c'mon - do they REALLY spell it "Womyn"? ;-)
To: PhiKapMom
" but is there anyway to get down into the High Desert from Lake Arrowhead since 330 is shut down?"
Unless they have closed it, there is a dirt road from the north shore of Lake Arrowhead to Apple Valley.
I have no idea what the condition would be or if it's still there since I haven't seen it in over 30 years.
To: lainie
I am a good 18 miles out from the closest fire, at present, and have smelt nothing but smoke for 3 days. Don't panic, but be vigilant. Make sure you have 2 or 3 escape routes, and a routine in place. Do boil some tap water, and get a survival kit together if one isn't already in place.

I know...and if you have ever paid any attention to my media rant posts...every freeper on this thread will flood the cable channels for the next 3 hours and force them to show this. Remember when the RI nightclub fire happened during the Great White concert? They were live from 2 am until the next night. We get the same bullshit on cnn, msnbc, fox news, and the alphabet networks.
Stunningly horrific that they are doing this.

I have been listening to KFI all afternoon and evening out of LA and they are covering the fires 24/7 which is where I am getting the info. This is real news not the crap they are showing on cable networks. I have zero respect for all the cable news networks. They need to drop the name "NEWS" from their titles.

Whew. It looks so bad, I can't imagine. News commentators, home owners, have looked so tired, scared and almost shell shocked. You can see the ashes flying about them during their telecast. This afternoon the sky was black, absolutely dark outside. I've never seen anything like this, never.
To: PhiKapMom
It's like the folks in NYC and Washington have no clue what's going on here. Talk about "East Coast-centric"...
