Redding is a beautiful small city on the Sacramento River in Northern California on the I-5. It's right at Mount Shasta and Shasta Lake.
Redlands is a city in the Inland Empire, near San Bernardino.

I cannot believe cable news. Hannity just hyped Greta's show about Sharpton and that woman in FL again -- old news.
Do they pretape these shows because they sure are not reporting breaking news out of SoCal!
Been a long time since I have been this disgusted with the news.
KFI reporting that winds will start to blow slightly on shore -- it will help every area except Lake Arrowhead.

I couldn't remember either -- I just remembered that 18 went down into the High Desert from Big Bear and 38 went to Redlands.

>> KFI reporting that the fire is now in the backyards of three palatial estates in Chatsworth area. Last of the holdouts are leaving. Some guy with antique cars leaving.
My brother-in-law in Alpine has several old cars -- one is a 1939 something -- another is a 56 or 57 T-bird in mint condition. He also has several other valuable collections. I fear he has lost everything.

We do it that way here in "Grand Central Texas"
Inmates are always doing things like washing school buses, cleaning and racking cemetaries, picking up trash along highways, etc etc.

The cable networks have shown themselves to be useless in covering this story. MSNBC is now doing an in depth story on a woman who chained up her lover. Next they'll be telling about the lives of rich kids.

God, I couldn't drive Rim of the World in the daytime! Scared the crap out of me. I lived in Highland from age 9 til I moved to San Diego to go to SDSU. Never really went back but my family is still there, in Del Rosa, which seems to have burned up over the weekend.

OMG - that makes me want to barf!!! Thousands and thousands of people here have had their lives destroyed!!! Mr. Inspectorette has been here since 1959 (transplanted from Washington State), and has never seen anything like this.
I have some good news from San Diego. Was just out and noticed a slight breeze coming in off the ocean and could feel the humidity. The Santa Ana seems to have died down, the heavy feel and smell of smoke has lifted slightly, and I saw a few stars peering through the smoke.
Through it all, once again, our firefighters prove again that they are heroes. God Bless them.

The best part will be when they start discussing new recipes, like FOX "News" did on the weekend (while there was REAL NEWS going on in California).

That is terrible! My daughter used to live in Lakeside and we were in Alpine when she got married. Prayers with you all!

Hannity and Colmes is just doing a rehash of the dimbulbs of last night, after doing something regarding Shiavo.
The CA fires are breaking news - whether or not one has family or friends there (I have both)
As a former radio reporter and knowing the importance of broadcast news because of it's immediacy, I am speechless over the lack of coverage.
I would know nothing if it weren't for FReepers.

I switched to CNN and they were covering an LA story, the spat between Shaq and Kobe.

.......I'm wondering if there's a way through Desert Hot Springs???? I just can't remember.
From DHS, one can go up the highway toward Twentynine Palms and turn back on 247 ("Old Womyn Springs Road")...taken thru Landers and towards Lucerne Valley, there's a backside road that goes right up there. I've never taken it, but on the Hwy 247 side there is sure as hell nothing burnable - all desert!
Guys?
For the very first time since this whole thing started, I can smell smoke.
To: Pylon
God Bless Them and God Bless You - I hope your ordeal will soon be over.
