speaking of shelters have you heard what they like people to do with clothing etc? I still have stuff like a pile of clothes for Goodwill. Are they saying to just take stuff to the nearest evac center?

Hesperia is close to me, the two high schools there. Now I'm thinking out loud.

Finally the news media is talking about Arnold going to D.C. for help and Doofus has been off the radio news now after it broke that he could have asked for help from the AF in Colorado but his head of the CA forest wanted to think about whether to ask for help or not.

Only some places on the east coast - I live on the east coast and no one ever hears of what happens anywhere around here - unless it is bodies being brought to the mortuary at DAFB.

But I agree - the lack of coverage of these fires is beyond believement.

I was unhappy with it too. I have been out of hte news loop the past few days, and never realized it was being so undercovered. I heard about it Friday...I was SHOCKED when I decided to get online early this morning to catch up on the news and discovered it was THIS BAD. I've been obsessively getting info on the fires all day.

Discovered early that my brother is ok in Santa Cruz...but our MOTHER never knew that, and she's been watching Fox News all weekend! Only cable news channel she'll watch, and they really let her down. She was really worried because she hadn't heard from him!

Laura Engel reporting from fire headed to Lake Arrowhead...unconfirmed FIRE HAS JUMPED HIGHWAY 18 torched a tree and took off from there...13 - 14 homes burning now.

KFI reporting that the fire has jumped HWY 18 and 14-15 homes buring on the other side of 18 -- they have been trying to keep it from jumping the highway all day -- now headed for Lake Arrowhead.
