No ... CNN reported, and I read in on FreeRepublic, that Hospice is paying for her care.

This reminded of the late Celtic Reggie Lewis and how his wife moved him in the middle of the night from one hospital which diagnosed a career ending and life threatning condition to another where the diagnosis was less severe and he died 5 weeks later.

That would be extremely sad. What's the Big Picture in all this?

doning flame retardant suit

Not at all. The quite disturbing but possibly relevant scenario you paint cannot be discounted in this case. All the schiavo character has to do is divorce her and give custody of her to her parents. They take care of her (which they want to do) and he goes on with his miserable selfish life...MINUS the money and quite possible the organs.

Many grieving families neglect to ask important questions when their loved one dies (especially if he/she is younger). "Just exactly where did the organs go Nurse?" is not a typical question when the family is informed of the passing...

The booming business in the selling of organs is a scandal/accepted practice in most parts of the world - why wouldn't this practice be going on here?

"BTW, GAL has been named, but I can't remember his name! Check Bay News 9"

His name is Dr. Jay Wolfson - University S. Florida. Does anyone know anything about him?

I agree. Hey, I have walked a similar path as her parents. I know. It is bitter

You are right it is bitter .. especially to deny her family the right to visit her and then to finally agree .. only to leave and not tell the family what is going on

I realize what the law is .. but his actions are unbelievable cruel

Yeah.

The lawyers who are paid there.

The "doctors" who are paid there.

Thanks for your reply. I'm wondering if there was any kind of police investigation into any of this, and just when he took out that insurance policy on her. I can't shake the feeling or intuition that her puke of a husband was involved in causing her condition. Maybe he planned her demise for the insurance money, but things went awry for him when she didn't die. Does anyone know how long after she suffered the heart attack and subsequent brain damage, that her husband began his pursuit to help her die through the courts? Or, how long has he been with this woman?

In Ohio, a GAL is an attorney appointed by a court, answering to the court only.

just heard on CNN that a new guardian won't be able to do much and that Lucifer will remain her guardian.

Does anyone have a copy of the actual law that was just passed?

You've got a burr under your saddle about hospice. AFAIC, it's a wonderful alternative to dying in a hospital.

Maybe so, no one wants to die hooked up to a ventilator in an ICU. But is being slowly torured to death by forcible dehydration without the patient's permission a "wonderful alternative" to slipping away naturally or living peacefully with the aid of a simple feeding device? To some of us that's the real issue here, not the acknowledged value of hospice to people who are dying of natural causes.

When the person is dead -AAAFTER their insurance has been bled dry! - THEN the hospice HAS to KILL them as soon as possible/practical/prudent - so another dying patient can be moved smoothly through the process from the trains to camps to the ovens.

As long as the patient has money, they are a profit-maker.

hubby can still control everything about Terri but the feeding tube.

Yea, this statement sums it up very well!!!! But I think there is so much money involved that the "fiancee" will stick around (after all she has a delivery coming) indefinitely to collect! Would that she have her baby tonight! So, it looks like there will be no therapy for Terri under the legislative act. But the courts seem unable to remove the feeding tube again unless the Chiles-appointed Supreme Court (the one that favored selected recounts to favor Al Gore, Jr.) rules the law unconstiutional. Then Terri is in immediate peril again.

So the big winner after all was the late Governor Lawton Chiles, who has appointed this dearth of runaway liberal judges in FL.

"Some years ago Terri has a heart attack..."

'Heart attack' is about as accurate as the word 'coma' here, iow, NOT. Terri was never shown to have a heart attack by cardiac enzyme changes. Don't know about EKG.

She WAS found on the floor by Michael in the wee hours of the morning. He said he heard a thump, then saw her lying there (on a carpeted floor). So Michael called her father, not 911. Her father said, "(IDIOT!) Call 911 NOW!". Father called her brother Bobby who lived nearby -- in same apt complex, apparently. Bobby got to Terri before paramedics responded. Terri was lying face down.

Michael had not moved her from her initial position or lifted a finger to help her. He gave some lame excuse later why he hadn't.

[Pause while we consider what we would do if one we were sincerely concerned about were to collapse suddenly. . .]

Many of these earlier medical records have gone missing. This account came from someone close to the situation that I talked to at the vigil / protest. I believe I also saw this at terrisfight.org.

Additional info -- Terri & her brother Bobby were very close, had planned to spend usual time together this evening. Terri cancelled, had earlier told Bobby that she was considering divorce. One of Terri's friends was concerned enough about her that she offered to let Terri spend the night with her.

It was at this point in telling the story that I paused to tell my girls, "And THIS is why you want to be careful when you choose who you are going out with, who you will marry. THIS is why your daddy & I are so careful for you!"
