I'm not sure what Arnold would do if confronted with the same situation. Given his background, (coming from the land that "euthanized" millions) he might actually pleasently surprise us. Never can tell
Let's hope we never have to find out....sad to say I think it is going to snowball!!

So was Hitler. Both Austrians and Germans participated.

I have decided not to vote again.I very much sympathize with those who are disenchanted with the two dominant parties. But I strongly urge you not to give up on voting. There are good strong conservative candidates and parties (such as the Constitution Party) that would stand up to these kinds of horrors. You may ask what possible chances they have of winning, and it's true that the chances are rather slim. But since you've resigned yourselves not to vote at all, you're certainly not going to be making things any worse by voting for one of them. It's better than silence, by far.

I really laughed for the first time today. Your post reminded me of Alan Jacksons's new song "it's five o'clock somewhere"

Ok, just to clarify: She was allowed to participate in part of the Catholic last rites, but not Holy Communion? Isn't Communion an integral part of the last rites? And just wondering if partial is acceptable to the RCC...?

In that politics today is mostly about looks and style, how did the rotund Jim King ever get elected in the first place? Did he have a primary challenger last time? Probably not. He cannot understand by example the horror of starvation. Talk about hypocrisy! I would try to recall him if I lived in his district, but I bet most people there are perfectly satisfied with him because he is a "Republican."

Doesn't matter what's acceptable to the Church. It's what's acceptable to Herr Greer.

Well, you should have just said that then. The word "tithes" (which means 10%, I think) is almost always used exclusively in religious terms.
I agree with you that $$ is a very strong driving force.
In fact, the Bible tells us that the love of money is a root of all evil.

Hitler hated Austria. He couldn't make into art school there. He hated Austrians and for the most part, Austrians hated him. That's why he left.

I looked up this
"Article III, Section 3(c)(1)" of the Florida constitution that he referred to in his proclamation. It states:
The governor, by proclamation stating the purpose, may convene the legislature in special session during which only such legislative business may be transacted as is within the purview of the proclamation, or of a communication from the governor, or is introduced by consent of two-thirds of the membership of each house.
So it's clear that he's actually limiting the legislature's ability to take up this case, when a mere communication from him will clear the road for them. Why isn't he doing it?

I'm "hearing" your posts as a voice of calm and reason, and that's a good thing. My problem with that approach in this case is that we don't have the time. That said, I restrained myself from immediately emailing everyone on my private email distribution list about the special legislative session, but my gut feeling and my thoughts right now are saying that we should do whatever it takes to save this woman's life. My reservations about believing whatever I hear extends (probably more so) to the info from a politician's office.
Good catch on that Ahnold thang!

Doesn't change the fact he was Austrian and Austria willingly participated in his enterprise. Arnold's father wasn't conscripted into the Nazi party or the SA. Arnold is aware of the history and those who participated.
His father was not found guilty of any crime but he belonged to an organization that sanctioned such crimes.

I agree wholeheartedly with inquest's post. I would add that, after you've done your homework and voted for the best candidate possible (whatever party, except the 'RATS, of course -- hehehe), then do everything within your power to make them STAND AND DELIVER. Be very vocal, be loud, write/email/fax your rep constantly, letters to the editor. Call your reps regularly (TOLL FREE # TO THE CAPITOL 877-762-8762 -- write it in your phone book and use it often). Light fires under their butts. Visit their home offices. Show up at rallies. Talk to your friends and neighbors. Join your voices with others (as a born-again Christian, my favorites are Dr. Dobson, Chuck Colson, Jay Sekulow and Concerned Women for America -- there are plenty of secular, conservative groups).
You can't just give up. I, for one, ain't going down without a fight, dadgummit!! America needs us.

Doesn't matter what's acceptable to the Church. It's what's acceptable to Herr Greer. This is true, and it's just despicable!! Thank God that it doesn't matter to Him what rituals and chants are done before we die, since that's exactly what Christ's mission on earth was -- our salvation if we believe. The thief on the cross didn't have any ritual or chant -- he just expressed his belief. Amazing love!!

This is why Arnold just might be more sensitive to such things. It was'nt meant as a negative thng against Arnold. If anything, it was meant to be positive.

So, had Bush put Terri's fight on the agenda, only a majority vote would have been needed? If Byrd introduced the bill, it would required 2/3 of both houses, but I presume that King could have still blocked it in the state senate. If true, Bush was undercutting Terri all along. Why would he do such?

My reservations about believing whatever I hear extends (probably more so) to the info from a politician's office. There's an awful lot of information flying around. It's hard to separate fact from rumor at this point. There are things about this case that don't make sense, don't fit together.
Good catch on that Ahnold thang!
My father was a U.S. Army surgeon in Vienna just after WWII, and he had to help clean up the aftermath. Also, I never met an Austrian I didn't like (although I'm not exactly an Ahnold fan)--so I tend to be protective of them! They are generally marvelous people.
