TALLAHASSEE, FL -- According to a news release sent by the Terry Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, Florida Speaker Johnnie Byrd will introduce "Terri's Bill" during the special session Monday.

The bill would put an immediate moratorium on all dehydration and starvation deaths in Florida. Meanwhile, supporters of Terri Schiavo showed up Sunday outside a Pinellas Park hospice.

Doctors say Schiavo has been in a vegetative state since complications from a heart attack in 1990. Her husband was granted a court order that her feeding tube be removed, saying his wife wouldn't have wanted to be kept alive.

No, you aren't asking too much.

I would just like to have a few minutes alone with them first.

He willed for Terri to survive thru the courts. Now we need to continue to pray that it will be His will for her to recover from this.

Boortz? Was he one of the Senators?

"Greer has secretly authorized MS to plunder Terri's rehab trust to pay for these efforts at having her put down."

Okay, how exactly does that work? Does he authorize MS to pay Greer? Do you think that the Centzone (?) firm was a shell to squirrel away some of this money to split 3 ways or something?

What absolutely terrifies me is that two of the NAY's sit on Health, long term care and aging committees.

It's also scary that Greer has been a speaker at least one conference for the elderly and disabled.

"Facing the Future," the fourth annual conference hosted by the Florida Coalition for Optimal Mental Health and Aging, will be Oct. 25-26 at the Travelodge Hotel, 820 E Busch

"Soaring to New Heights in Elder Care"

is the theme for this year's Guardian Association conference. The conference will be from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, 11 Central Ave.Scheduled subjects include right-to-life issues, addressed by Judge George Greer, and sessions on community resources, Medicaid qualifications, ethics and incapacity. Attendees may be eligible for continuing education credits. Fee for the conference is $75, which includes continental breakfast and lunch. Call 360-3622 or visit www.guardian-association.com.

I know that the article is 'old' when considering Terri's fate.....but it does show him fighting for the elderly and disabled. Why his terrifying stance on Terri?

Amen to that! And live she will and she will declare the works of the Lord. She is a testament of what a believing people can do when in unity. They will move heaven and the throne room will be filled with their petitions. God will be in the midst of them and move mightily!!

I don't believe so, although he is still the judge 'in charge'. Plus, a district judge (not Greer) must appoint a 'guardian ad litem' for Terri. This guardian does not supplant Terri's husband as guardian, but he makes recommendations (and I believe Scarsdale said investigations) about Terri's case to the Gov. and to the court (Greer's court).
At least, that is what I understand from the questioning that went on in the House regarding the Senate's changes.

Amen. If Terri can recover, we have good reason to hope that all of those who have put her in this situation will be brought to justice in this life. If not, God will surely deal with them in the next.

I should add, that it was said on the House floor by Scarsdale, that it is likely this case will end up in the Florida Supreme Court (but Terri gets water & food now).

Thank you. I hope the Governor doesn't have to wait for the GAL to be appointed and to make recommendations.

#1705 That's interesting. I wish my google worked. It doesn't necessarily mean he is fighting for the right to life. In light of what's been happening, it is more likely that this is about the 'right' to die.

No, in fact, the appointment for the GAL (by the district court) cannot be made until after the Gov. signs.
Someone on the House floor even asked how much the GAL would cost. Geeeeeezzz! He had to be told twice that the system already exists for GALs and that one might even be provided pro bono (Scarsdale then explained what pro bono meant = free!) That guy finally shut-up.
At least some of their questions answered some of ours as well.
