Democrats calling (Simon) Republicans Minor Party Status in California...
The Sacramento Bee ^ | 09/27/2002 | Margaret Talev

GOP tries to dispel its gloom By Margaret Talev -- Bee Capitol Bureau Published 2:15 a.m. PDT Friday, September 27, 2002 When Republican candidate for governor Bill Simon faced off this month in a solo debate with the Green Party candidate, Democrats declared California's Republican Party a nonentity.

To spend precious time debating a candidate whose party draws 1 percent of registered voters showed just how small-time the GOP had become, said Roger Salazar, campaign spokesman for Gov. Gray Davis.

"Simon," he jabbed, "has finally relegated California's Republican Party to minor-party status."

Salazar was being facetious. But he'd tapped a dark fear among Republican activists: that a wipeout in this year's elections could drive the already-battered state party closer to irrelevance.

"There's many of us who look at the slide in elected successes in the last few years and the obvious inner-party feuds that have taken place and worry about our political future," said Brooks Firestone, a moderate and former assemblyman who has battled conservatives for control of the party. "Things don't look good.".....

Davis and his team are scared to death to debate because then Davis would be held accountable for his actions. So they go on the offensive and try and scare Republicans into thinking that we're losers, that we can never win, that we're bad, that Simon's bad, etc., etc. And liberal Republicans like Brooks Firestone fall for it hook, line and sinker.

Idiot!

Simon has the momentum. He's closing in on the polls. Davis can't get above 40% -- in ANY poll. Simon is out and about talking to people, actually CAMPAIGNING. Davis isn't campaigning. He's raising money and lying on commercials. Davis is in trouble, and his campaign knows it, and that's why Salazar is acting like a pit bull.

We can do it -- we can get rid of Gray Davis. And if we are successful, California politics will be changed for the rest of the decade -- or longer.

Go Simon!

The only thing minor is the size of the Dimwit's brain...and if his cajones were half as big as his mouth he would have shown up for the debate!

Firestone has been a thorn in the side of the California Republican Party for 40 years that I know of, I hate the guys guts.

He and Parsky along with Rove's encouragement are the major reason that Simon has had trouble raising funds.

As was stated by the Simon Campaign(I forget who, duh!) at the Orange Co. Republican Central Committee: It doesn't do any good to peek on Oct. 15th, we want to peek on Nov.5th!
Look for Simon's real camapaign to start rolling soon!(I hope).

BTW; that should be peak, not peek.

I agree, but to win it helps to have a maximum nunber of voters on your side on election day!

I believe that the momentum started with the judge overruling the poorly arrived at jury verdict and the subsequent Bush/Guiliani ad; the Simon loan; and the RNC coming in with more money. This is the best time to be gaining momentum. Davis has done some damage with the negative ads, but no one is going to HIM ... they're moving from him or Simon to undecided, but Davis is gaining NOTHING.

We have five-and-a-half weeks. We're the campaign gaining. We're the campaign with the momentum. And we have a good candidate to boot. I sure wouldn't want to defend Gray Davis!

Let's get everyone on board for the big push. Because the best revenge -- on Gray Davis AND the liberal Republicans -- is WINNING!

Go Simon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. (I hope Simon can pull the upset off - it would give much needed life into the California GOP.)

I read that article yesterday. The GOP has nobody but themselves to blaim. The party nominated a crook to run for Governor. Davis is just as bad as Simon and the Democrats are to blaim for this. Those two parties are identical in practice. Their chief aim is to divide the American people, so nobody will notice the agenda they are pushing through Congress. Both parties are against soverignity of individual nations. They are both for the one world order or one world government with no rights given to individuals.

I am still looking at all of the candidates on the ballot to see who to vote for. A poll that was in the Sacramento media outlets a few days ago showed that 55% of all Californian's didn't want either Davis or Simon and were more likely to vote for the lesser of two evils. I will not be voting for either one of those two major candidates. If the GOP wants my vote back they are going to have to nominate honest men or women.
