No, Harris' mother is from India. She didn't get her "whiteness" from there.

Northern Punjab Indians were considered by some anthropologists to be Caucasian, but Harris' mother came from the southeastern coastal region (Chennai).

Also, the Supreme Court ruled in the 1923 case of United States v. Bhagat Singh Thind that Asian Indians, despite being classified as Caucasians by anthropologists, were not considered “white” by the common American definition.

You mention anthropologists. Kamala does not look Dravidian.

Her father is a mulatto, from a Jamaican family who were once slave owners. Kamala is fairer than J.D. Vance's wife who is definitely Caucasoid. The point is that Kamala is not black. Historically, someone with Kamala's ancestry were historically referred to as octoroons. Obama is genetically blacker than Kamala Harris.

And for either Obama or Kamala to claim African American ancestry is disingenuous. Neither Kamala or Obama are African American in the historical sense. Elon Musk is African American, but not in the historical sense. Someone who pretends to be African American but isn't is bad person (consider Rachel Dolezal).

I agree that it's wrong to call her African-American.

I remember reading a story from about 30 years ago where a newspaper reporter told of an editor who changed his copy describing a man from Jamaica as "black" to "African-American." The reporter said that the man was not American, he was Jamaican, but the editor didn't budge. If you were black and in America, you were "African-American" because that was the politically correct term at the time.
