President Donald Trump's critics are increasingly focused on the question of which Democrat will challenge him for the presidency in 2020. It's an important question, but another one might be even more important: Regardless of who runs in 2020, if Trump loses, will he leave the Oval Office peacefully?
Let's start with why we need to ask this question: Trump is increasingly proving himself to be a President eager to overstep his authority. Just last week, Trump displayed his willingness to invoke unprecedented presidential power to declare a national emergency utterly without justification. This week has brought a startling report from the New York Times that, for the past two years, Trump has tried to undermine the investigations by Special Counsel Robert Mueller and other parts of the Justice Department in order to, in the words of the Times, "make the president's many legal problems go away." In light of these overreaching assertions of his own authority, it's at least plausible that Trump might attempt to cling to power in ways previously unimaginable by an American president.
Thankfully, there are four steps that key actors across the American system of governance can take to get ahead of this possibility....

We're going to burn it down, you Lefty slimeballs.
Like Hillary did is 2016?
Saying “what if” is now passing for Journalism.
What if monkeys flew out of my butt.
I can tell you one that would not. ME.
But I hardly watch TV at all.
Dear Joshua A. Geltzer:
I am amazed that someone who was the editor of the Yale Law Review, a visiting law professor at Georgetown and a writer for all the trendy periodicals could’t come up with a topic that wasn’t self-servingly hashed to death by the NYT and others in the last election.
Plagiarism can come from going down such a lazy path.
But having served in the Obama Administration is what lazy is all about, isn’t it?
Of course we all saw that the Democrat Candidate couldn’t accept defeat. And neither could CNN who carries your tripe. Hillary Clinton and those that supported her corrupt candidacy and party couldn’t accept defeat and now it appears that young Josh can’t either.
Projection is always what happens when children are embarrassed about criminal action or toilet behavior. Grow up kid, do something with your life.

I guess they mean like Hillary refused to accept the election results
They get whackier by the day. The formula CNN uses to make money requires an ever increasing acceleration towards the bizarre. Trump will will in a landslide in part because of this.
This is what the Dems and other Progressives started blasting Trump with during the 2016 campaign. Remember the question during the last debate with Clinton?
This is actually good news. The left is already anticipating a second term!
such BS it stinks to high heaven
first off, the D’s would need to nominate a winnable candidate
so far, they haven’t a clue
smile smile smile
The real question is will CNN accept the election after TRUMP kicks everybody’s back side??
Why, that would be horrifying...oh, wait, that’s what Hillary said of someone who wouldn’t accept a loss right before she opted to try to overturn her loss...
CNN working hard to put Dem traits onto Trump....
Hillary, the Demonicrats, and the swamp-dwelling Deep State seditionists in the State Department, DOJ/FBI, CIA, DOD, have never accepted her defeat.
Trump is nothing like Hillary so no problem.
More to the point: what should congressional Republicans do when the dems next win the White House? What they should do is obvious. In a spirit of bipartisan cooperation, they should announce that they will not stoop to the tactics the Democrats used to sabotage Trump. To that end, they will stay ahead of the Schumer pace on confirmation. And they should keep that pledge -- staying always one confirmation ahead as of any given date. To all complaints, they can then honestly say they're ahead of Schumer's pace.
I am sad to say that if Trump lost the election in 2020, but he refused to step down, I would support him.
Sad, because I believe in the rule of law.
buuuut....I would support him because there is no rule of law. If we are to have a dictator, which the next person will most assuredly be, it may as well be someone who is hated by the “correct enemies”.
I have come to the conclusion that this country that I love is run by a criminal cabal. It has to be cleansed of that influence, and it is not going to happen in 4 years. It may take 20 years, but the conspirators must be jailed or removed before Liberty and the Constitution again reign supreme.
We are but a whisker away from a Chinese type of country. Workers will crawl on all fours at the behest of their bosses, and will kill themselves if they are fired.
None of the democRATs accepted defeat in 2016
The opposition media has run out of new ideas.
I’m wondering if no Dem runs against if they will win anyway.
Amen. I use a T.V to watch a DVD or as a larger comp monitor. I never ever watch any broadcast tv or news. No cable jive either. I get all the news that matters in U.S and international level by visiting FR ( gave Drudge Fudge the flick). I’m in Oz and I don’t even watch the news here. The news readers are picking up the bad habit of giving their personal opinions about a story. The international news segments are all from the U.S alphabets and the Bilious Bile Corporation. No thanks
