Sen. Susan Collins said she is "appalled" by a tweet from President Donald Trump disparaging the woman who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault.
The Maine Republican called the statement from the President "inappropriate and wrong."
"I was appalled by the President's tweet," Collins said Friday, according to audio obtained by CNN of an event where she spoke with local reporters.

The senator, who is a crucial swing vote on Kavanaugh's nomination, was responding to a question on what she thought of a tweet from the President suggesting that Christine Blasey Ford should have come forward with her allegation against Kavanaugh earlier....

Susan Collins is, I believe, the reason Chairman Grassley keeps waffling on his “deadlines” for her testimony. They need her vote and won’t get it if they are too “tough” on the fragile one.....
Everything I hear from these politicians is that Dr. Ford should be made to feel “comfortable”.
Apparently she doesn’t like to fly, so she was offered to be interviewed at her home. It’s important that she feels “comfortable”.
SHE IS A GROWN WOMAN. SHE IS A PSYCHOLOGY COLLEGE PROFESSOR AT PALO ALTO UNIVERSITY.
If she is so emotionally fragile so that she is incapable of functioning like a normal adult human being, why is she teaching college kids about psychology?
Keep you eye on the prize Mr. President! A Kavanaugh Supreme Court placement is far more important than getting involved here. Let Grassley do his thing, he’s ON YOUR SIDE.

She has guts and a backbone—for the wrong things. For example, She stands up against conservatives all the time. She’s another McCain. Just try to defund Planned Parenthood or roll back any of the socialist state, and hear her squeal.
