Former President Jimmy Carter isnt holding back in his assessment of Donald Trump, saying this week that if he could somehow become president again he would reverse all the policies Trump has put in place since taking office.
Carter made the remark at Emory University, where he speaks each year to incoming students. The 93-year-old former president said he prays for Donald Trump regularly, though it didnt appear to be working as Trump would have to change a lot of things if his prayers were answered.
If he had the chance, Carter said he would make the changes himself.
If I were foolish enough to feel I could be president again, I think the first thing I would do would be to change all of the policies that President Trump has initiated, Carter said (via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution).
Though former presidents have generally refrained from publicly criticizing those who currently occupy the office, a number have now made exceptions for Donald Trump. Former president Barack Obama has been active on the campaign trail in recent weeks, trying to energize Democrats for the critical midterm elections this fall. In doing so, Obama has offered some of his sharpest criticisms of President Trump.
Even President George W. Bush has spoken out against a number of Trumps policies, though not criticizing Trump directly.
Jimmy Carter has also been relaying some advice to Democrats as they look to retake the House and Senate from Republicans, warning them away from drifting too far to the left and risking alienating independent voters.
Independents need to know they can invest their vote in the Democratic Party, Carter said on Tuesday (via The Associated Press).
This is not the first time that Jimmy Carter has taken aim at Donald Trump in recent weeks. Back in August, he attacked both Trumps policies and his character amid the growing revelations of Trumps hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet their alleged affair.
I think hes a disaster In human rights and in treating people equal, Carter told The Washington Post.
The remarks from Jimmy Carter came just after a federal indictment for Donald Trumps former lawyer, Michael Cohen, for hush money payments to two women who claimed to have affairs with Trump. Donald Trump himself was named in Cohens court documents as a co-conspirator in the plan to pay the women, which amounted to a campaign finance violation.
By the time that photo was taken, he already had quite a few bodies buried under his house.
Jimmy Carter Says He Would Change Every Trump Policy If He Could Be President Again
Still the Blithering Asshole he was in office.
My dad was a builder - he barely survived the Carter years. In two years he sold two homes! (High prime rate equals high mortgages).
And of course my old man had borrowed lots of money to buy a large property for a large housing project. I recall as a 17-year old or so going into the bank with him to meet the president. I recall being a bit embarrassed, just being a kid, and dressed like a slob after a day on the job helping my dad. My dad said something about someday I’ll need a loan, and it would be good to meet him now. And it doesn’t matter what you look like - it is how you act. IIRC my dad was going to be a few days late in making his payment.
“Don’t worry Mr. Hanson - I’ll bring a check over to you on Tuesday.”
“Oh - I’m not worried Harold - you’re worried enough for both of us!” The president said with a chuckle. (I’m guessing that my dad had dealt with him, or at least that bank, for 30+ years).
The old man hung on though, and did very well in the end.
He hated Carter almost as much as he did FDR.
Jimmy: Teddy and McNasty are calling you to join them.
Carter was the last time I ever voted democrat.
Jimmy should review the results of the 1980 Presidential Election.
He never had any trouble taking “charitable” contributions from Trump. I wonder if the Georgians will ever wise up to him.
There is little worse in this world than an arrogant, smug, self-righteous know-it-all christian (used lower-case ‘c’ intentionally), and Jimmy Carter is right up there in the rankings.
He might think that his heart is in the right place, but in his head is the only place his heart is right. I thank God for Jimmy’s salvation through Jesus, but that doesn’t make him any more infallible than it would the Pope.
Will this incompetent, vindictive, vain, virtue-signalling, bureaucracy-loving, stupid, stubborn, and senile man just go away?
I don’t want him to die. I just want him to shut up and disappear.
I hated serving in the military under that incompetent piece of crap.
Hahahahahahahahahaha!
That’s brilliant! (did you Photoshop that?)
LOL!
Nope...that came out about a month after the initial encounter....* SMILES*
Isn’t he cute the way he speaks like he knows what the hell he is talking about.
He reminds of those archaeologist on History Chan’s Ancient Aliens.
When I was in the USN, our ship went on a deployment above the arctic circle, and for foul/cold weather gear, we got jackets that were made for 40 degree weather.
So, we would forage through the bales of cleaning rags for the best ones to stuff inside our shirts so we could stay warm.
Worse, we didn’t have enough of the jackets, and had to hot swap them when someone came down off the flight deck.
Shameful. We were very underfunded in those days.
I’m taking that...I love the way the wake curls behind the rabbit!
Beware of the killer rabbit.
I lived through Carters presidency. Gas lines, crazy high interest rates, jobs were few and far between. Does anyone remember the supposed sugar shortage too? Back then a buddy of mine was looking, looking for work and after months found a job for 8 bucks an hour driving a forklift. I remember all our jaws dropped when he told us.
Here we go, a new word: Jimmy Carter is our anti-lodestar.
Idiot, gas lines 18% loans, yea I am old
