House Speaker Paul Ryan said during a Friday interview Democrats will have to stomach the fact that President Donald Trump will advance immigration reform.
Ryan spoke with WISNs Vicki McKenna at length about immigration and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
Theyll have to stomach the fact that yes, this president will be successful in doing something that hasnt been done for years, which is advancing some immigration reform, advancing security, advancing enforcement, and advancing a law that fixes the DACA problem so these kids dont get kicked out, Ryan said.
That would be a victory for this president. And that would be, if youre a politician and youre partisan and you dont want to see him be successful, that will be a tough pill to swallow.
Ryan noted that Democrats who do not support border security are simply playing partisan politics.
Its only common sense that we secure our border, he said. Having control of your borders should not be partisan. I think its a real mistake if because [some Democrats]dislike Donald Trump so much and they dont want to see him get any success that theyre gonna stop us from actually securing our border. I dont think thats a sustainable position.
The compromise that we will advance will be one that includes securing the border.
Ryan also addressed Wednesdays White House meeting between Trump, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi that centered on immigration. Reports said the group came to an agreement on a border security bill that would protect DACA recipients and also excluded a border wall, but Ryan said no deal was made.
The dinner was a discussion, not a deal, Ryan said.
Amen 2nd ... Amen
Jim, I have not updated my homepage in many years and I doubt I ever will.

Not if Paul Ryan has anything to do with it he won’t.
The dreamers are being used political "human sheilds" by Democrats to provide cover for all illegal immigration.
Accepting the dreamers for tighter border control is the start, not the end, and takes them away as a political weapon.
Are you drunk or just in the wrong place.
So you’re a Trump hater? We get it. Now why don’t you just go to hell? Moron.
He’s no place now. He’s been banned and I hope he never sets any type here ever again.
What happened to the RAISE act????
Read my lips: no new amnesty.
We don’t need ‘reform’. Enforce the friggen laws!
I think this is a betrayal by Trump. If indeed he allows DACA to be passed and signed.
If he gets a wall, tax cuts, and whatever else he wants then I can stomach it. Otherwise nope nope nope.
...we are under no obligation to grant them US citizenship simply because their parents broke the law and I frankly dont think that we should. If we want to make a deal on not deporting them, thats one thing. But amnesty? Citizenship? Thats a whole different matter.

I agree with all you said there! However, all who violate ANY criminal laws should be deported and not allowed to return.
Of course that is not true and both statements are irrational.
You are given to making insane over the top statements, right?
If RYAN said it, don’t believe it. His credibility (IMO) has suffered “BIGLY”. I do not trust the turn coat.
The compromise that we will advance will be one that includes securing the border.
I’ve heard this song before. The Chamber of Amnesty has spoken.
“Would that both parties cared as much about our children as they do these DREAMers.”
VERY good point.
“House Speaker Paul Ryan said during a Friday interview Democrats will have to stomach the fact that President Donald Trump will advance immigration reform. “
Yea but will you and the other RINOs.
Tay76...If I go to your profile, it says you’re outa here. Can’t imagine why.
The problem remains....60 votes needed. Let’s get rid of that little problem. You can bet that when the Dems get back the government in 50 years, they’ll do it.
Hey Ray....See you’ve been banned.
