Language is malleable, right? After all, a dictionary doesn't define a word's spelling, it simply gives the most common version of it. Well, how about a name?
UCLA's The Den tweeted Monday morning that a recently unveiled statue at the new $700 million USC Village displays a typo.

In their defense, Shakespeare used to misspell Shakespeare.

[To E, or not to E, that is the question,]
Apparently “Not to E” is the answer. Or technically “Not to ‘e’” I suppose.

 "...Shakespeare statue..."

Easy fix. Leak word onto the street it is a vicious Confederate soldier.
Await subsequent crazed teardown and see about a corrected replacement.

    That's nothing.
Computer scientist Phillip Hallam-Baker misspelled the word Referrer in his proposal to incorporate a Referer header into the HTTP standard. In approving the proposal, the standards committee failed to notice the error, and now it's all over the web, repeated many, many times per second. What a disgrace!
Hallam-Baker worked for the Clinton campaign in 1992.

USC Misspells Shakespeare On Newly Unveiled StatueUSC? They can fix this by changing the Bard's name in all the history books to match the statue, they're already in there revising the rest of history anyway...

Hmm, I seem to remember in my old paperback Guiness Book of World records, circa 1980 or thereabouts, Shakespeare had more alternative spellings than any other word in the English language.
