3 Reasons Trump Could Put Cruz on the Supreme Court
The Fiscal Times ^ | November 22, 2016 | Ciro Scotti

On the list of surprising visitors calling on president-elect Donald Trump last week, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas ranks right up there with alleged Secretary of State candidate Mitt Romney.

While Romney who called Trump a “phony” and talked openly about derailing his candidacy during the campaign had an actual job attached to the meeting with his former nemesis on Saturday, Cruz’s visit was billed as more of a drop-by.

It’s true that after the name-calling between Cruz and Trump (who tagged him “Lyin’ Ted’) during the primary campaign; after Trump’s derogatory comments about Cruz’s wife; after Trump’s suggestion that Cruz’s father had a role in the JFK assassination; and after Cruz neglected to endorse Trump at the Republican National convention, they did in the end come together. In September, Cruz finally endorsed Trump and campaigned for him....

I’m just going with what was actually said

‘I can say that Governor Romney is under active and serious consideration to serve as secretary of state of the United States,’ Pence told CBS News’ John Dickerson on ‘Face the Nation’ Sunday.

“but that doesn’t make you natural born.”

His mom was a US citizen. Stop spouting off about stuff you clearly don’t understand.

While I like the idea, there is no way Cruz can get 60 votes to be confirmed.

*************

The sixty votes only apply now to get the confirmation vote,
that is assuming the dems would filabuster the appointment.

“While I like the idea, there is no way Cruz can get 60 votes to be confirmed. While a good majority of the GOPe would vote to confirm just to get ride of him, it would never be enough to get to sixty with all the dems in opposition.”

No appointee from Trump will get 60 votes. It’s going to be 51 and McConnel will use the Reid rule and go nuclear.

Don’t be ridiculous; Justices don’t just up and quit to then run for office!

After Harry Reid only 50 are needed.

I am confident the Republican Congress will give it back to them...The Repubs aren't big into winning...

We’re you not aware Clinton is not under consideration for SoS? You say Cruz would make a better SoS than Clinton?

That’s a hell of a benchmark ya got there!

Are all people who are born with multi-nation citizenship that includes US citizenship “natural born US citizens” or just Cruz?

By the way, it has nothing to do with scotus eligibility because he’s certainly eligible for any position except for the presidency.

Cruz was not on Trump's list of 20 or so candidates for first pick.

Cruz will have to wait.

I am sorry but I simply do not trust him in any way. I do not want him on the SC.

Ginsberg is going to die in the next year or two. She can barely stay awake.

Kennedy may retire as well.

That’s three picks.

He may have to pick one ‘moderate’ as the left will be melting down after the first two.

I agree with your opinion. Cruz would be excellent on the SC.

All good reasons to move him to SCOTUS.

It wasn't Trump who was lying when he called Cruz a liar...Ted earned that title all by himself...

If Cruz will lie to the American people as a president, he'll certainly do it as a Supreme Court Justice...No thanks...
