Trump campaign: We're facing an emergency goal of $100,000
CNN Politics ^ | June 18, 2016 | Eugene Scott

The Donald Trump campaign on Saturday released its first "emergency" fund-raising email, in response to an ad blitz from the Hillary Clinton campaign.

"Right now we're facing an emergency goal of $100,000 to help get our ads on the air. We need your contribution by 11:59 P.M. Tonight," the email from Team Trump said.

"Crooked Hillary is about to invade your TV with ads attacking Mr. Trump. But we're preparing to fight back," it reads.

The email promises to release ads attacking Clinton on her role in Benghazi, the integrity of her donors and reported FBI probing of her private email server while secretary of state.

The urgent fundraising email is routine for most presidential campaigns. But it's particularly notable since Trump insisted repeatedly during the GOP primary season that he was self-funding his campaign, only to start asking for donations later on.

Republican officials and activists are increasingly concerned that Trump is underestimating the fundraising challenge ahead as he faces off against Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee....

My first take was that it was some kinda internet phishing expedition.

Cruz has been after his delegates, so why not his donors?

"RNC

Cruz"

I got the Trump email this morning myself, and since I've only donated to the Cruz campaign this cycle and it's been, at least, 15 years since I've donated to the RNC I assume that Cruz has shared his contact list with the Trump campaign. The Trump fans might be shocked that the Donald might need some help, and just maybe he should start acting like he wants to actually beat Hillary.

I seen an interview with Roger Stone a few weeks ago and he said that there are only two legit places to donate to Trump. I can’t remember the 2nd choice, but he said this one is absolutely certain to be honest if you have any doubts.

Trump said he would self fund the primary not the general election.

This is fraudulent.

This isn’t from Trump!

You're right, of course, someone is trying to scam a hundred thousand.

Probably the RNC.

Trump said he would self fund the primary not the general election.

Today, in Las Vegas, he said that if the Republicans don't come through with money he will go back to self funding.

If any of these news sites post a copy of the letter, please post it here. I have yet to see any copy of it.

I actually would be shocked, and I imagine Trump would be too.

Funny. I get email from Mr. Trump and have donated in the past. I haven't received any requests from him today.

Wow it's a pretty good scam. The Bottom of the Donate page has the following:

Paid for by Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.

Maybe you should let the Donald know so he can sue because that would be fraud I believe, not just your garden-variety scam. Actionable I bet, if it wasn't him.

I got the message too, and was immediately suspicious that it was a fraud, and sent it right to the trash bin on my trusty Mac.

My advice? Do not send any money to a candidate sending email requesting a donation. Instead, go to the candidate’s website, read up on his record and his views, and then make sure you are sending money to his actual campaign fund.

Lots of peeps out there are looking for a quick buck, or for money to use for other purposes than the candidate they “appear” to be supporting.

Think “Nigerian” when it comes to campaign requests...

The Donald J Trump website donation page is legit. The CNN reported email, that is the subject of this thread, is a fraud.

Not real funny, because of other info the email contained. I’m going to look into it further however. I may indeed donate once the conventions are over, but not until that occurs. Right now I’m applying the Occam’s razor principle and have no reason to believe anything other than the simplest explanation.

I took the link directly from the email but when I tested it, it ended up containing my personal information on the displayed page so if I can’t embed it here without disclosing sensitive personal information such as my job title, home address, employer and certain CC information. I will not post that information on FR. It’s the personal info that I object to, especially since I have never donated to Trump before. Heck the fact that the info went out for Trumps use might be at least a ethical issue.

How do you know that it is a fact that it for Trump's use? Haven't you read any of the posts that warns of fraud?

Then just copy the email and post it. Blank out what you don't want to be seen. Nothing hard about that.

I was an early poster on this thread. The email I got went to a Trump site. The link logged me in to a Trump controlled Donation site that contained my personal FEC required data and it had my CC data.

I didn't accuse Trump of anything, but if the shoe fits. Obviously it could also be the Cruz or a common IT vendor that they both use. It could also be in the fine print of the crap you agree to when giving a donation. But it is clearly an ethical problem on somebody's part, as I didn't intend to be a entry on his Web site.
