One-hundred-seventy days are several lifetimes in politics, especially in presidential-election years.
That's how many days remain before voters go to the polls in November. Already the race looks very different than it did just a couple of weeks ago.
The twists and turns of the rest of the campaign trail are as difficult to predict as what's already occurred this year.
One thing that's coming into sharper focus is that the best thing Donald Trump has going for him is Hillary Clinton.
Team Clinton chortled over the possibility of a Trump candidacy.
Their internal polls showed her breezing by a candidate they viewed as incurably flawed. They'd hammer him for being anti-women and measure for draperies in the West Wing.
Their giddiness is already proving to be incredibly misplaced. Far from being a walkover, the race is already shaping up as a schoolyard brawl that could go either way but currently favors not Hillary Clinton but Donald Trump....

Trump is the rock star in this campaign. Despite the antipathy of the media , he has access to whatever platform he chooses and uses social media very effectively. Despite her huge war chest, the support of the media and very well funded SuperPacs, Clinton has been unable to establish the narrative and define Trump as she wishes. He on the other hand has been successful in defining her as an inherently dishonest corrupt smelly old hag who would be a disaster as President. The Media remains astonished that huge numbers of independents, Democrats and women are flocking to his banner. They will really become apocalyptic when polls soon begin to show that he has more black support than any Republican since Herbert Hoover.
ROFL....The best thing Trump has going for him are the American Voters!!!
The later they realize this ... the more it's too late for them to do anything about it, which I suspect it already is.
Trump is running to win. Unlike the last two R candidates. All 3 share this — absolutely super vulnerable opponents. But McCain campaigned for the unqualified illegal alien enemy infiltrator and Romney folded his deck chair and quit campaigning just as soon as everyone - including Obama - thought he Woukd win. An obvious strategy to throw the race. Pathetic both of them. Donald is a winner. And Hillary has more smelly baggage than TSA
” Clinton has been unable to establish the narrative and define Trump as she wishes”
Trump has totally defined the narrative:
1. Released a detailed 21st century foreign policy that eschews the moribund ideas from the previous century. Hillary will have to respond to that sooner or later, presumable in the debates at the latest. Trump’s foreign policy is structured in such a way that it will be a lose-lose proposition for her to oppose it.
2. Hillary will have to respond to Trump’s list of potential SCOTUS nominees. Whether she releases her own list or not, it will be lose-lose for her.
3. Jobs and the economy are already a losing issue for her.
4. National security is already a losing issue for her.
And so it goes.
