GOP front-runner Donald Trump isn't very popular among New York City voters.
Come one, come all, to the greatest show in town: New York's presidential primaries, competitive for both parties for the first time in memory. New Yorkers are in for a circus leading up to the April 19 elections.
Hillary Clinton needs to win and win big in her adopted home state. She kicked off her primary rounds here in Harlem and then headed upstate, working her base of black voters, older women and moderates, while Mayor Bill de Blasio, who ran Clinton's first Senate campaign in 2000, was on the radio last week defending her environmental record.
Bernie Sanders will put up a fight on the ground, hoping high voter turnout will tilt the result his way. He rallied 18,500 people in the South Bronx last week, according to his campaign, and his field operation may get a shot in the arm from the state's activist Working Families Party, says veteran Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf.
The primary will test the Working Families' turnout machine, Sheinkopf said, and could hurt Clinton even if she wins. "If it's close, that's a real problem for her," he said. "This should be a walkaway."
Donald Trump's name may be plastered across Manhattan in oversize brass letters on ice rinks and apartment buildings, but Trump's appeal in cosmopolitan New York City is thin. He's likely to spend his time outside the city with upstate allies, including his early backer in Buffalo, real estate developer and 2010 gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino. I haven’t seen a poll showing it even close in the republican primary. Trump has a tremendous lead.
Though we thin it in our head sometimes, we NYC folk aren’t the only NYers

There will be a low turnout in the city. Who benefits? The ones with the enthusiastic supporters - Trump and Sanders.

But if it’s a closed election, we’re outnumbered 5 to 1 dem to repub in the city, so the vast majority of votes will come from upstate and will be huge for trump.
then you have pockets where trump will do quite well, like Staten Island and still small part of the other boroughs.
Can’t see a cruz victory. Honestly, can’t see a close race. But this crazy election has been anything but predictable.
Contrary to what my pal DP is thinking i suspect a high turnout in the 5 boroughs and Long island can make the race competitive. I think on the dem side the same turnout plus a general hatred for DeBlasio can drive Sanders to the upset. The same way Philadelphia generally carries all of Pa i thin NYC will carry the Dem race. I think Trump wins the state but it will be closer than the polls.

The two latest polls out of N.Y. state with Trump at 64% and Cruz at 12% in one poll and Trump at 56% and Cruz at not quit 20% in the other.
Trump carries up state by a HUGE margin and beats Teddy and KaSICKO in the 5 boroughs and Long Island as well.
Trump also has a LARGE black vote in Harlem, which is going to give any Dem a problem come the general election!
Hillary is NOT wildly loved in N.Y. no matter what any jurno and/or pundit claims AND de B. is thoroughly loathed, so Bernie will NOT do all that well.
Above 50% and it’s winner takes all with some weirdo stuff re some kind of added in sort of “super” delegates, but 95 regular delegates.
I think it’s ironic that Donald Trump will run in a primary in NY.
Donald did not want GOP primary voters in NY to be able to vote in the primaries when he was considering running in the NY gubernatorial race. He said that he would not run IF there was a primary. I WONDER IF DONALD WILL CONSIDER NOT RUNNING IN THE PRIMARIES THIS TIME IN NY. :}
Ed Cox, the NY GOP chairman, basically told him he would have to follow the same rules as everybody else.
