I have been struggling to decide who to vote for president. This field that was hyped as the "most talented in a generation" has turned out to be a field full of mediocrities. Standing atop the field until last night was a vulgar carnival barker and reality TV star. Instead of a debate on ideas, we have mindless sloganeering and empty words.
Donald Trump absolutely cannot be the Republican nominee. Trump is not a conservative, he has not fought with conservatives, and he has actively aided and funded the enemies of conservatives. It's more than that though. To nominate Trump would be to reward a demagogue for his demagoguery. We're not going to rehash his idiotic proposals and vulgar remarks, but someone like that should not be representing conservatives and a major political party.
Now the task at hand is to support someone who actually can defeat Trump. I hesitated to align behind a presidential candidate and I even gave strong thought to not voting in the Louisiana primary on March 5th. But I can't sit on the sidelines and let Trump get the nomination unopposed....

I’ll take Trump over Cruz, he’s smarter.
But if Trump gets knocked out I will vote Cruz.
I'm afraid that once he's elected he reveal the liberal stripes he's shown more than once. Talk is cheap.
Thanks for the mention. I appreciate you holding it off for a day or so.
There’s ten days until South Carolina.
If it can be negotiated without coercion or threats, then i'm all for it. I'm just not sure that's possible when the President is eyeballing you and telling you to "negotiate."
In the long term, I'd like to see medicare privatized. In the short term, we need to get costs under control before they bankrupt us.
Drug prices are a problem. Medical care of any sort is also a problem.
But these are not the worst problems we are facing. That more than half the population gets some form of government assistance is the bigger problem in my thinking.
The trend is ugly, and the projections completely unsustainable. We are going to crash if we don't cut the government's ability to spend other people's money.
Yep. I agree 100% with what you’re saying.
He is not “shaking up the party”. He is pro-big government.
I don’t support Trump’s amnesty plan. I will vote for the guy who has never supported amnesty and was for a wall when Trump was hugging the DREAMERS and funding Rahm Emmanuel.
I cannot wait. :-)
Perhaps too many have fallen to the PC madness and think vulgarity is it's opposite. It's not. It's another way of telling people to shut up. It does not encourage discourse and does not further knowledge or understanding. In that way, it is exactly the same as PC.
“Shut Up” is what a democrat says when they don't want to think or hear apposing views. It is not healthy to co-opt that attitude.
Trump's campaign has gone from ‘helping our voices be heard’ to full ‘shut up’ mode. It is not healthy for the conservative movement and it not healthy liberty in general.
The campaign Trump is running does not challenge the voter to think - at all. That is not good. You can beat people into submission but eventually they will rebel. And when they do, they swing in the exact opposite direction. Obama 2.0 if you will.
Cruz, if you have ever watched him speak with Code Pink or the farmer in Iowa, can speak with people and let them know why they are wrong and get them to see his point of view. I genuinely think that is a skill that is needed in this country, at this time. Back that up with solid constitutional values and the country has a chance.
I'm sure the general response from trump supporters will be a version of ‘shut up’. Have at it. I hope instead you'll read this and try and think beyond the anger and showmanship to see the destructive consequence of voting for trump.
After Donald Trump gets through the list of things he will do immediately, what liberal things will be left for him to do?
Trump may be crude, and vulgar, but what you see is what you get. And he is on top of the Islamic threat, the reality of doing business in America, and the loss of freedom that individuals face from their government.
This character shouldn't be allowed any where near a voting booth let alone be given the job of writing an opinion piece for someone...
He’s with a pretty prominent conservative think tank. Google his name.
He,he,he,he, ... the Trumpeters are REALLY getting DESPERATE !
Looks like the "tell it like it is" ticket.
Vote Trump or Luca Christie will give you a Rubio down!
Glad to see this. We need to support the one real conservative in this race.
Trump will just be an extension of the Big Government mentality.
Bingo! And those aren't the only reasons.
Nothing personal, but I know even less about you than I do about Trump.
Shred of evidence? Seriously?
According to the biggest criminal in recent political memory, there isn't a "shred of evidence" that she committed series of felonies, followed by additional felonies trying to cover it up. That is reality. That is fact.
Your inference that Trump will behave similarly is also a puerile presumption on your part.
I prefer to act on my own judgment, and experience, thankyouverymuch.
There is no politician I know of in my lifetime who has not shaded facts and promises for their political benefit; That's what politicians do.
I would rather put my trust in Trump and what his abilities can bring.
What you choose to do I couldn't care less. Stop presuming that we need your 'wisdom.'
I disagree.
It is impossible to overreact in response to the absolute incompetence, ignorance and arrogance of Hussein.
Nothing that Trump can do could possibly be worse.
Fortunately, your opinion can be effortlessly dismissed.
Your ignorance has clouded your judgment.
Although it goes by a different name, Obungo has passed laws that are being enforced...
By any other name, executive orders, illegal or not, have become indistinguishable from Constitutional laws.
"Labeled" conservatives have utterly failed to prevent them. Nor to explain their absolute helplessness.
Give Trump a chance.
