The Boos Continue! Trump Ticks Off Tea Party Faithful and They Let Him Hear It

In the department of Presidential candidates hearing jeers-not-cheers from crowds, Donald J. Trump -- Republican frontrunner, real estate mogul, racist eater of burgers -- is not having a very good week. During Thursday night's Republican debate on Fox Business, Trump faced criticism from the crowd in South Carolina after he attempted to lob attacks at Texas Senator (and closest polling threat) Ted Cruz.

If at first you don't succeed, try and fail again.

On Saturday afternoon in front of a crowd of tea party activists, Trump again attempted to toss shade at Cruz, and those in attendance defiantly booed the frontrunner. According to the Associated Press:

"Trump suggested Saturday that the Texas senator is owned by big banks like Citi and Goldman Sachs. The billionaire businessman made the comments at a tea party convention in South Carolina in front of crowd split among supports of the two leading GOP White House contenders."

The below video reveals that the crowd began to turn when Trump said, "You give a campaign contribution to Ted Cruz, you get whatever the hell you want."

Cruz has begun to jeopardize Trump's frontrunner status in recent weeks, and many have argued that Cruz's performance on Thursday night will only increase his support. According to the newest polling data from Real Clear Politics, Cruz falls right into the margin of error with Trump's lead in Iowa, the first state that will caucus in a little over two weeks.

We finally have the first chance to put a rock solid conservative on the presidential ballot since Ronald Reagan and all we can seem to do is eat our own. Disgusting. I thought there was a higher level of discourse at the FreeRepublic but lately this place seems to resemble the DU.

I will vote for Trump if he is the nominee but not because of any illusion of his conservatism, he’s a proven progressive. If I can’t vote for a conservative I will vote for the one who will cause the most chaos in Washington because unless we can return conservative values we might as well.

It is not phony, but a live controversy. As one attorney explained it to me, when 80 attorneys can argue it, it is a live controversy and remains a live controversy until the courts settle it. Because it is "only" a constitutional issue the SC has original jurisdiction and must therefore decide the matter.

It is phony. If natural born didn't mean a child of a citizen then Romney couldn't have run, nor McCain. Trump even admitted that he started the issue because Cruz was gaining in the polls.

I've come to believe Trump is not who he claims to be. I know he's got a very dedicated following, but I think he's more like obama than a conservative. He's very vague on specifics and personally attacks those who disagree with him.

In my life I've held my nose and voted for the northeast GOP candidate and been disappointed every time. I'll only vote for conservatives now.

Proof? None. It is much more likely that Trump is getting booed because he deserves it.

You are missing the point.

Cruz was attacking Wall Street in 2008 for crony capitalism.

Then AT THE VERY SAME TIME he took money from one of the biggest notorious crony capitalist Goldman Sachs and Citibank. He’s a hypocrite.

On top of that he “forgot” to notify the FEC. Everyone knows he was trying to hide it. If you believe Cruz forgot, then I have beach front property in Kansas to sell you.

This is just like his dual citizenship. He, “forgot”. Common man are you THAT GULLIBLE?

Another Occupy Wall Street post. Bad, evil, Wall Street corporations. How dare Cruz take out a loan against his own account.

TED CRUZ - THE REALITY OF THE SITUATION

Senator Cruz took office in January,  2013.  January through September of 2013 Cruz campaigned against Obamacare, forcing a government shutdown. It appeared he was doing the right thing - for the right reasons.  However, he received  intense backlash for a junior senator with only a few months on the job.  He was ridiculed and marginalized.   Then, he made a telling  decision.

In October of 2013 Cruz made a strategic decision to regain credibility and influence. To achieve this he partnered with the very political machine he previously opposed, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and then Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell.

McConnell directed Cruz to join the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Through 2014 Cruz served as Vice-Chair inside the NRSC, a powerful part of the DC machine.  He forwarded their program refusing to assist any political entity not in alignment with the group's objectives.  In short, he sold his soul to McConnell Inc.  In early 2014, McConnell vowed to beat back tea party candidates wherever they surfaced.  "I think we are going to crush them everywhere," he said in March, 2014.

Cruz publicly separated himself from McConnell Inc., but carried the objectives of the 2013 plan forward quietly behind the scenes.  While publicly railing against what he called the DC Cartel, a group he was bound to assist from his prior pledge to them, he worked to achieve their goals nonetheless. When the President of the Chamber of Commerce called for an immigration package,  conservatives erupted, accusing the Chamber of supporting amnesty to line the pockets of big business.

Senator Ted Cruz never once campaigned for a conservative in the 2014 mid-term races, nor did he ever discuss the absence of a federal budget once Republicans were in control of both the House and the Senate.

Rand Paul and Ted Cruz appeared on the Sean Hannity Program on January 13, 2014.  Both Senators said they would not help new conservative faces attempting to unseat incumbents in that year's primaries.

Rand Paul said: "I will stay out of any race that involves an incumbent."   Looking toward Paul, Ted Cruz responded: "I'll likely do the same."

Both Ted Cruz and Rand Paul were strongly supported and would not have won without support from the grass roots and the Tea Party.  However, when they were needed most – they chose to stand on the sidelines.

the reality of the situation

That’s because Trump supporters are as “intelligent” as Obama supporters. Or in my dictionary hopeless schmuckball suckers. Falling for the same ridiculous empty political promises while turning a blind eye to dirty Chicago/New York thug politics Donald spews against his competition.

Pretty evident just how gullible the saps in this country really are. No vetting. No research. Falling for the cult of personality. Everything people on this site accuse the idiots in the liberal wing of doing.

Thanks for the confirmation with your charts.

That’s your opinion, and thus not necessarily or automatically interchangeable with absolute truth.

The Tea Party is now Occupy Wall Street? Keep on trying. You’ll put two and two together eventually.

@realDonaldTrump has given $84K to @NYGovCuomo, who says conservatives have no place in NY because they don’t share #NewYorkValues

That’s probably about $.02 for every person Trump employs in NY. Really, really weak. BTW, that hashtag campaign failed miserably while Trump was getting 30k retweets today.

"he’ll win the White House with liberal Republicans and high school drop-outs."

It's possible.

Make America Great? Like saving $2500 a year on insurance?

Just how exactly is Trump going to make America great when his hands are in the back pockets of every elite politician’s pants in DC?
