One day after a report that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) questioned Donald Trump's "judgement" in a private event, Trump called out Cruz for criticizing him behind close doors but refraining from negative comments in public.
Looks like @tedcruz is getting ready to attack. I am leading by so much he must. I hope so, he will fall like all others. Will be easy!
.@tedcruz should not make statements behind closed doors to his bosses, he should bring them out into the open - more fun that way!
Cruz has so far refrained from bashing Trump in public. After Trump announced his proposal to ban Muslims from coming to the United States, Cruz disagreed but stopped short of condemning Trump's remarks.
But the Texas senator spoke about Trump and Ben Carson during a Manhattan fundraiser on Wednesday, according to the New York Times.
"Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button? Now thatâs a question of strength, but itâs also a question of judgment. And I think that is a question that is a challenging question for both of them," Cruz said of Trump and Carson.
Cruz has started gaining on Trump in the key primary state of Iowa, which may be making Trump uneasy. The real estate mogul has a habit of attacking his Republican rivals when they rise in the polls, as both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal noted this week. Trump may have released his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the country in an attempt to boost his support with evangelical voters in Iowa.
You obviously didn't follow Texas politics if you think Cruz is an establishment insider. It's absolutely true that Cruz was the embodiment of a political outsider in his run for the U.S. Senate in Texas, but there is evidence vastly more meaningful to me that he maintains his outsider status in office (contrast this with Rubio).
usafa92, perhaps you're not aware of complaints from former major contributors to Cruz's Senate campaign that he refuses to assist them if their interests are contrary to the public good or conservative principles of governance.
Need some proof? Read the article on this topic linked below. In the article, note the stark contrast lobbyists have encountered with Cruz compared to Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and Cruz's predecessor in the Senate, Kay Bailey Hutchison.
Cruz's ideology trumps Texas' interests, businesses complain
From the article:
"The general feeling among Texas companies," said a Washington lobbyist for a large Texas company, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, "is that no one can get anything out of that office unless it means an ideological agenda."
An Iowa Evangelical is a retard

So, you’re an Evangelical— explains much.
+1. That was one of the out of character things he’s done since he’s been there. The other two being the Corker Amendment and the foreign workers thing,
Ted asked, "Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button?"
Every voter should ask himself that question if he is doing his due diligence.
I am more comfortable with Ted. Donald doesn't appear to be as emotionally stable or intelligent.
But you CAN. TPA and immigration. Fact. Cruz is just as mealy mouthed on immigration as he is on this poor "judgment" spiel right on the heels of Trump's Muslim moratorium.
Cruz folks do not know this because Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, et al. refuses to report to you what Cruz is telling Bloomberg or Time Magazine, which I have many times told people on this forum with the usual result being pathological denial.
Accept it folks, Cruz isn't as lily pure or independent as he pretends.
“There was exactly zero criticism in Cruzâ comments.”
The Heritage Foundation people thought it was. James Dupree on Hannity thought it was. Everyone else thinks it is. Did you read what he said? Do you think it was a complement?
Well said.
Those are still kind of microaggressions. #2 makes Cruz look a little dumb.
Cruz and Paul were ahead of Trump calling for a 3 year moratorium on immigration from countries that have an ISIS and Al Queda presence. Cruz also wrote legislation to give Governors the right to refuse any immigrant on the grounds of security issues. Cruz wrote legislation that would revoke the citizenship of anyone who joined ISIS, preventing them from returning to the country.
Cruz was out ahead on the issue. He just framed the moratorium on potential terrorist, rather than as a religious issue.
Judgment comes with age, maturity, experience, talent and much more. I have no judgment when it comes to brain surgery or rocket science.
Trump obviously has no political judgment. If you want to insist that means “poor judgment” and use that as a lame, weak effort to attack Cruz, then go ahead.
“Cruz and Paul were ahead of Trump calling for a 3 year moratorium on immigration from countries that have an ISIS and Al Queda presence.”
Yeah, just abandon the Syrian Christians who are being raped, tortured, terrorized, sold into sex slavery, and forced to convert or watch their children get power drilled in the head.
“And, Iâm not so sure about your judgement either. I read and listened to what Cruz had to say at the fund raiser, and it honestly seems like much ado about nothing to me.”
Questioning Trumps judgment on the nuclear trigger is going for the jugular. I am not so sure about your judgment either.
LOL - message, what Ted says behind closed doors is not what he says in public. Gotta love it.
But by the way, I do respect Cruz and Rand Paul for at least wanting to do SOMETHING to keep the USA safe. Cruz is still one of my top two choices for President.
It's a Christian social conservative (e.g. pro-life) who is an economic socialist.
Huckerstbee typifies the demographic. They don't mind sin taxes and wealth redistribution as along as the gravy train goes to their approved causes. In other words, the government can impose a sin tax on cigarettes and redistribute those funds in the form of child tax credits. However, the same sin tax should not be used to support development of a local casino.
Good luck with that. Trump can't do the first and he's not capable of the second.
Time to choose a side.
Actually he keeps everyone talking about his take on the issues.
So my approach, much to the frustration of the media has been to bear hug both of them, and smother them with love...
So you don’t think that’s a little arrogant?
