The Jewish donors gathered Thursday had two demands of the Republican presidential candidates who'd come to speak to them: unambiguous support for Israel and respect.
Donald Trump seemed to fail at both.
The party's 2016 front-runner openly questioned Israel's commitment to the Mideast peace process in his remarks to the Republican Jewish Coalition, echoing comments he made the night before in an interview with The Associated Press. He drew boos after refusing to endorse Jerusalem as the nation's undivided capital. And he suggested to the influential group simply wanted to install a puppet in the White House....

Trump may take a trip to Israel soon to have talks with Bibi. ...
Here it is.

That is total bs about the donations. You are very dishonest. What Trump has taken in is peanuts. You are trolling and shilling for someone.
Who is your candidate of choice?
It seems to me you do not understand Trump, the audience, or the issues.
Trump about to take off for Israel:

This article is complete total bs. Trump’s presentation before the Jewish audience was outstanding. He had great rapport with the audience. He is going to make a great team with Bibi. there is no doubt about it.
The naysayers on this forum are total losers for Israel.
That should get the usual suspects around here to get their panties in a twist.
LOL
“You’re not going to support me even though you know I’m the best thing that could happen to Israel,” Trump said. “I know why you’re not going to support me - because I don’t want your money. You want to control your own politician.”
Don’t most US Jews vote democratic?
As a strong supporter of Israel, I think that when Trump meets with Bibi, he will understand that it is the Palestinians who have no interest in a deal. They only want to destroy Israel.
So I am still supporting Trump but I will be watching closely.
Trump’s already 10 times the leader than Obama. Just wait until he’s actually in office.
So, you support a guy who has admitted to buying politicians because he would keep the on-sale politicians from being elected? Makes so much sense.
I don’t think it’s out of line to point out there are things that would limit the possibility of a deal on the part of Israel. If that constitutes “questioning commitment”, not sure it means anything at this point in the discussion.
Take Trump out of the equation. There are things Israel won’t give up. I am quite sure Israel is more committed to preserving the security of Israel than to making another deal with lying muslims that lessens the security of Israel.
Some might say that makes Israel’s commitment to a deal “questionable”. Those folks shouldn’t be taken seriously.
Does that include Trump? don’t know. Didn’t sound like it would from his comments at the Republican Jewish Coalition.
I watched his speech.
Trump said he would love to have a peace deal but it was basically up to Israel to decide what they were willing to give up.
He said several times that Israel has already made a lot of sacrifices but if they were to work out a deal they had to approach it with a clean slate and everything on the table.
He said that is the way you work out a real deal that lasted and not the garbage they have done in the past that only worked a week or two.
Cruz supporters with TDS have taken this way out of context and have read into it what they wanted it to be.
Trump is very pro Israel and even made a comapign ad for Bibi at Bibi’s request.
He will not do anything that would hurt Israel or anything that Israel did not support 100%.
Trump does not believe Israel is the problem.
He said that IF there was to be a deal that both sides would have to put everything on the table and then go from there.
He said Israel has already sacrificed a lot and did not know if they would be willing to sacrifice more.
Trump is pro Israel and would not try to push them into a deal they did not support.
I have donated to Trump.
I have never received a solicitation for more.
I have also donated to Cruz.
I receive daily solicitations for more from him.
There’s a fly in this particular ointment, to be fair to the truth (even more than to Trump when he hasn’t quite grasped the truth yet).
Deals will work if you are willing to agree on some level to be friends.
The rabid-Islam people won’t be friends. Now not every single person who goes to a mosque is a rabid Islamist. In fact we have the grace of God (the actual one) to thank that very large numbers aren’t.
With all due respect to Donald, this could be a pons asinorum in his path. Donald has already realized that some Mexicans are intractable enemies. It might dawn on him that some Islamic people are thus, too.
Or maybe it already has, and he just wants Israel and “moderate Islam” to get along while being perfectly willing to see the radicals go to hell.
Here’s where we need to see Trump speak for Trump. To know if he is embracing good sense here. Because Trump’s picture has been changing, we can’t tell from a snapshot what the movie is.
“But he’s taken in twice as much from donations as he’s put in.”
First, he’s spent very little. He’s gotten a lot of free press.
Second, he doesn’t beg for money like the other candidates m but accepts it from supporters - not large amounts from groups like the Club for Growth- but from individuals who want to have skin in the game. He said he thought it was good if people wanted to get involved.
Israel has a very real demographic ticking time bomb coming. The muslim population is breeding with much higher birth rates than the jewish population. What happens in 30 years when the jewish majority is at risk?
There is a strong case for a two state solution with land concessions to move the muslim population and preserve a jewish majority.
In fact I’d love to see a solution that encourages Israel to crack down on the rabid-Islam crazies just as hard as it needs to, while being quite friendly to the others. Instead of dancing some silly, impossible political correctness game.
Pretty sure that Cruz would stand for something like that. But if Trump does too, maybe we’ve died and gone to heaven (relatively speaking, I kid I kid).
I knew I liked you a lot!:)
To have a smaller but all-Jewish state might work. The trouble here is if this process keeps getting iterated till Jewish Israel is down to the size of a postage stamp. The other Islamic countries won’t take their brethren in any way that releases pressure from Israel. Maybe there is some way to force the existence of something like an “Islamic Liberia.” So we can say at least those people were put somewhere.
