The Jewish donors gathered Thursday had two demands of the Republican presidential candidates who'd come to speak to them: unambiguous support for Israel and respect.
Donald Trump seemed to fail at both.
The party's 2016 front-runner openly questioned Israel's commitment to the Mideast peace process in his remarks to the Republican Jewish Coalition, echoing comments he made the night before in an interview with The Associated Press. He drew boos after refusing to endorse Jerusalem as the nation's undivided capital. And he suggested to the influential group simply wanted to install a puppet in the White House....

You’re taking Trump from the wrong angle anyhow. He never promised to be conservative. He promised to mirror the wishes of an America that he says he wants to see become great again — apparently he believes in it apart from its politician class.
Fortunately, America apart from its politician class has tended to be a lot more conservative than said class... so someone like you would stand to gain anyhow.
But Trump, once more, never promised to be conservative per se. This is really a “ball in your court” moment for greater America. And it makes perfect constitutional sense. Who’s oversigned on that document?
He never said any such thing. Bibi has said that Israel is willing to come to the table and bargain. Of course it is the Palestinians that is the problem. They only want to exterminate the Jews. Yasser Arafat proved that.
You’re never wrong about anything ever, either.
On the eve of the event, Trump weighed in on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in an interview with The Associated Press. He questioned for the first time both sides’ commitment to peace, adding that he would know within six months of being elected president whether he could broker an elusive peace accord. He doubled down on those comments Thursday in an auditorium packed with Israel’s most loyal supporters.”I don’t know that Israel has the commitment to make it, and I don’t know the other side has the commitment to make it,” Trump said.
So he didn't want to be another politician promising to do something that wasn't going to get done. Is that a bad thing?
If Trump really believes that Israel is part of the problem then his judgment really must be questioned.
Hey Donald as a supporter, I want you to know that was just dumb, get your facts straight. Stop reading the liberal playbook on Israel.
I watched the video. One person booed. This article is hyped up way beyond reality.
Watch the video of this event. This is another overhyped hit job.
First off , Trump does not do donors.
Second, he totally support Bibi.
That’s not my version of the truth..
But it is the general opinion of a N’east reoubs and New Yawker’s...
As to pandering, nope......he does not do it. Nor did Teddy Roosevelt.
If those quotes are correct then more people should have booed.
Trump has Israel’s back. That’s all that needs to be known. He’s got Israel’s back, big-time.
Everyone believes their own opinions are correct: you, Donald Trump, and I are all alike in that regard.
But only a certain kind of person believes that another mere human being besides himself is never wrong about anything ever.
And Trump seems to attract that kind of person.
Second, he totally support Bibi.

Not endorsing Israel’s chosen capital is a funny way to endorse it’s leader.
Except, of course, that he's taken in millions in donations.
Wow. You even mimic his speech patterns.
I listened to his speech and Q&A at the Republican Jewish Coalition Presidential Forum. He was great; hammered Obama and Hillary. Lots of applause. See the whole event for yourself. I know you are not more proIsrael than me and I think he is going to be fine.
So I’m watching the actual speech, and suddenly this article looks like a giant pile of crap.
You need to qualify that.
Those are very small contributions and he is not actively soliciting them and as he says many times it is peanuts and they really are.
You have to be honest compared to the hundreds of millions all the other candidates get the Trump donations are irrelevant. Trump takes contributions but he does not take millions at a crack from donors. Be real!
