I’m relieved you see it that way. Many bitter Cruz supporters do not. Trump has been caught over performing and must be taken out in a hurry.
Should this version of the “Mississippi Treatment” succeed against Trump, certainly Cruz is no force to survive the same.
This is about TPP/illegal immigration and the rule of Wall Street globalist donors buying our candidates and interfering with our convention rules and everything else.
It’s exactly what I expect. While I have moved a bit from Bush to Rubio as who they will nominate, you’d have to give me some pretty big odds to bet against it.
I agree right back! We came, we saw and now we know.
Freepers need to be delegates and unseat the Romney machine who have been left in place in every state, since 2012.
The Cheap Labor Express will do whatever it takes to keep us from electing anyone who would shut them down.
They own the RNC/GOP, so the party bosses know they must produce the amnesty candidate they have been paid for.
Alternet is slightly to the left of Mother Jones.
The GOP Establishmentâs contingency plan if their guys all get knocked out is to support Cruz and then take him to court for being ineligible. They will ask for the remedy of replacing Cruz on the ballot with their own pick, just as the court ruled Torricelli could be replaced by the Democrats in 2002.
Then they will pick Jeb Bush to replace Cruz.
that is another good scenario. That is why I think Jeb in our face with his campaign. He knows the fix is in.
The people pick the delegates and electors - the delegates pick the candidate and the electors pick the president. I’m very concerned about a brokered convention.
Is the Republican party similar to the Democrats, in that each seat in congress is given a delegate vote? If so then there are a number of delegates that Trump/Cruz can’t count on from the get go. I saw an article a few weeks back that said Hillary had over a third of what she needed just from that setup. Wouldn’t be surprised if the GOPE selection was in a similar spot.
Not only can they, they will. If not look for him to be killed or incapacitated.
In 2012, Rick Santorum had Missouri, Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, and several other states stolen from him and given to Romney or Paul. Following those losses, (and maybe not anticipating Trump), and the disaster that the Romney campaign turned out to be, the RNC and state committees took action to bind delegate apportionment to the winners.
The article’s claim that the delegates aren’t bound to vote for their candidate is partly true. But then it’s simply up to Trump’s campaign to make sure it picks his delegates well.
Side note: President Reagan ended up losing the GOP nomination in a floor fight back in 1976, because of Super-Delegates. The GOP no longer uses Super-Delegates.
PING
Sour grapes all because he can be a wild card. None of them own him.
Cut off nose to spite face. If Trump runs third party we are guaranteed a RAT win or an outside chance of a Trump presidency. Either makes the Republican establishment irrelevant. And it would serve them right for rejecting conservatism to the point where a practical realist looks conservative.
Seal our fate too.
Yep. So much for the consent of the governed eh?
I'd feel much better if Jeb and Kasich were out of the race. I'd be surprised if either one of them is above stealing the nomination.
If they pull something now, how can the US claim to have fair elections? I'd be concerned about the tempers of people who've sat back and taken it in as the US speeds toward ruin.
JMHO
I think you’re correct. They’re awfully quite about Cruz’s eligibility.
And Rubio’s.....Jindal is out so he doesn’t matter....
I know, I would feel ecstatic if Jeb was out of it. Kasich as well. His last debate was eye opening.
