Dr Ben Carson goes left on these issues:

Dr Ben Carson is a fine mine, with integrity. However Carson goes left on these issues:

Allow semi-autos only in remote rural areas.
Says that conservatives that won’t talk about gun control have an “infantile attitude.”
For “socio-economic Affirmative Action.”
Supports raising the minimum wage.
Want “stiff tariffs” to limit trade.
Deportation of any illegals is “moral low ground.” A pathway to citizenship is “the only humane and reasonable thing to do.”
Wants a c r a z y 30% Ethanol Standard. Implies climate change is one justification for that 30% ethanol standard.

Sorry will not vote for him at all. Will stay home. He will not win. He is the same as the other two. No difference to me.

Even for home schooled kids? YES
And kids enrolled in private schools? YES
Is that freedom of choice? NO

He’s been brainwashed, like so many.

Liberty is not something to which he gives consideration, IMO.

I think he’s a fine man, just has his blind spots.

Carson has promoted amnesty. Also, I wonder about his understanding of economic issues and lack of political and administrative experience.

15% ethanol is generally cheaper than regular gasoline, because of the subsidies, which the taxpayers pay.

I have kept careful records of the mileage that I get. The 15% Ethanol gets almost exactly the same miles per dollar as regular gasoline. There is no saving because the mileage is reduced with the reduced BTUs, as noted by Others.

Ethanol is a scam and a disgrace.

You have confused the chicken with the egg.

Massive legal immigration caused the $15 minimum wage.

You wanted a free market in low skill labor, and Ronald Reagan got the ball rolling by granting Amnesty to 3 million illegal aliens in 1986.

Too bad they all vote for the Democrat Party - and the $15 minimum wage.

Today, Reagan could not get elected governor of California because of his own immigration policies!

No, the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT caused the minimum wage and have used whatever excuse they can to persuade you it is needed. With you, they have succeeded. The Left loves problems, either made-up or real, because every perceived “problem” is an opportunity for more government.

Your argument is based on the same negative attitudes as socialism - government and socialist programs first, people, who are a liability to government and socialist support, second.

That is NOT the values of America as founded and as existed until recently. As Reagan said, once people understand the choice they have between freedom versus coercive government interference in their lives, they will choose freedom (GOP when it is clearly for less government rather than the DEMOgoguebureauCRATS. When the GOP is not standing against unconstitutional government, then there is little difference between the parties and it doesn’t matter who they vote for).

Reagan explained in simple terms that freedom was simply the opportunity for everyone to carve out a life as they saw fit for themselves and their families without distant bureaucrats telling them what they can and can’t do. Once people of all ilks and persuasions saw that freedom was in their best interests, they voted for Reagan.

Your socialist-based arguments failed in the past and fail now. To be the land of the free you must once again be the home of the brave, not the home of government controls.

Again, it’s astonishing how so many so-called “conservatives” neither understand nor believe in freedom, the very bedrock of America and American values.

Re: “...the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT caused the minimum wage...”

Sorry, the $15 minimum wage in Seattle was enacted by Seattle voters, who are close to 20% foreign born, and close to 40% non-white.

I did not vote for it.

But, I do get a very satisfying laugh when the millions of cheap foreign laborers you started importing 30 years ago go to the polls and vote themselves a raise.

Re: “Once people of all ilks and persuasions saw that freedom was in their best interests, they voted for Reagan.”

Time for a political history lesson, Jim.

In 1984, when Reagan won his landslide re-election, 66% of Hispanics voted AGAINST Reagan, and 91% of Blacks voted AGAINST Reagan!

Re: “ Again, it’s astonishing how so many so-called “conservatives” neither understand nor believe in freedom...”

It is also astonishing how even more Conservatives - like you - refuse to admit that 30 years of massive legal immigration have done terrible damage to our economy and may have done irreparable damage to our political system.

Traditional American values and the Constitution are on my side not yours. America stands for legal immigration, as seen by welcoming arms of the Statue of Liberty and its inscription on the pedestal, and hates big, activist, interfering, meddling government. The Constitution has nothing against immigration and strictly forbids federal interference like this where no authorized. And economically, your minimum wage does much more harm than whatever perceived good you think it does.

Re: “America stands for legal immigration, as seen by welcoming arms of the Statue of Liberty and its inscription on the pedestal...”

Are you aware that the anti-American, anti-Constitution Democrat Party supports exactly the same immigration policies that you do?

Are you aware that 80% of new immigrant citizens vote for the Democrat Party?

Your devotion to massive legal immigration is completely irrational, and it guarantees the political destruction of every value you claim to care about.

Are you aware that when they understand their choices, people will always vote for freedom over government coercion and socialism?

Are you aware that the history of the world is a history of people voting with their feet which is why the history of socialism and totalitarianism is one of EMigration and the history of the free world and America has been one of IMMigration? When people understand what’s at stake, they don’t go towards more government command and control but they will risk their lives for freedom.

Your problem is you don’t believe in freedom.

Re: “Your problem is you don’t believe in freedom.”

And your problem is that you don’t believe in mathematics.

50% of your beloved legal immigrant families are using at least one welfare program in the USA.

62% of illegal immigrant families are using at least one welfare program in the USA.

http://cis.org/Welfare-Use-Legal-Illegal-Immigrant-Households

Now, take a wild guess who welfare recipients vote for.....

Freedom loving Conservatives?

Or, freedom hating Socialists?

Voila, mon ami:

8/14/2015
“Republican presidential candidates Ben Carson and Donald Trump were criticized by pro-life activists this week after they waffled on their positions regarding abortion, research on aborted baby body parts and funding Planned Parenthood.

After Carson indicated support for the abortion drug RU-486 in the case of rape or incest, Cavuto asked Carson, “At the point of conception do you see that as life Doctor?”

“Certainly once the heart starts beating, certainly at that point,” replied Carson.”

No abortion for convenience
My entire professional life has been devoted to saving and enhancing lives. Thus, the thought of abortion for the sake of convenience does not appeal to me. Many of us turn a blind eye to the wanton slaughter of millions of helpless human babies who are much more sophisticated than some of the other creatures, when nothing is at stake other than the convenience of one or both parents. I am not saying that we should abandon our efforts to save baby seals and a host of other animals. Rather I am saying shouldn’t we consider adding human fetuses and babies to the list?

Semi-automatic weapons ok in countryside, but not cities
Appearing on Glenn Beck’s radio show this past week, Carson took a vastly different stance from most conservatives on the issue of gun control, claiming you shouldn’t be able to own semi-automatic weapons in large cities.
Asked by Beck for his thoughts on the Second Amendment, Carson gave the popular pro-gun argument: “There’s a reason for the Second Amendment; people do have the right to have weapons.”
But when asked whether people should be allowed to own “semi-automatic weapons,” the doctor replied: “It depends on where you live. I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I’m afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it,” Carson elaborated. However, if you live “out in the country somewhere by yourself” and want to own a semi-automatic weapon, he added, “I’ve no problem with that.”

Deportation is moral low road; create guest worker program
Is it moral for us, for example, to take advantage of cheap labor from illegal immigrants while denying them citizenship? I’m sure you can tell from the way I phrased the question that I believe we have taken the moral low road on this issue. Some segments of our economy would virtually collapse without these undocumented workers—we all know that—yet we continue to harass and deport many individuals who are simply seeking a better life for themselves and their families. Is there a way to apply logic to this issue and arrive at an intelligent solution?
All we have to do is look to our northern neighbor, Canada. They have a guest worker program, which allows people to enter the country as officially recognized guest workers who pay taxes, receive benefits, and are able to come and go as they please without infringing on anyone else’s rights.

Re: “You forgot, “Freedom-hating ‘conservatives.’”

That's gibberish.

Do you actually believe Mexicans come here so they can be free?

More than 75% of them voted to reelect Obama in 2012.

Did Asian Indians leave India to be free?

More than 80% of them voted to reelect Obama in 2012.
