If you can't beat 'em, ask 'em to join you! In what is a pretty unusual move for a primary contest, Ted Cruz has invited Trump to join him at a rally to highlight opposition to the Iran nuclear deal. The Texas senator has long appeared to be positioning himself to pick up a chunk of Trump's supporters, including through his efforts to avoid criticism of even Trump's most bombastic statements. Cruz has not attacked Trump, and has in turn been one of the few GOP candidates who have successfully stayed out of The Donald's crosshairs.(As Trump is fond of noting, candidates who have aggressively criticized him haven't fared well in the polls, while Cruz has thrived this summer.)
And take a look at these numbers: In the latest poll from Quinnipiac, Cruz had just a quarter of Trump's support overall (coming in at seven percent, compared to Trump's 28 percent lead,) but he ran much more competitively with Trump among Tea Party Republicans and those who say they are "very conservative." Among Tea Party backers, Cruz captured 21 percent, compared to Trump's 25 percent. So it looks like Cruz has a good reason to believe that he'd get support from a slice of Trump's supporters if the real estate mogul deflates.
POPPING ON NBC POLITICS
Donald Trump defended his hair and attacked the New York Times during a rally in South Carolina, one of us(!) reports.
Joe Biden could face an usual challenge if he jumps into the 2016 race: his gender....

Only half in jest I suggested that Trump protect his life by amending his will and leaving 2 billion to Cruz... so if someone takes him out Cruz will have the cash to carry on to victory :-)
They are afraid, very afraid of a Trump-Cruz ticket.
Trump takes a substantial percentage of the urban independents, conservatives, non-affiliateds as we a good cross section of Hispanics and Blacks.
Cruz takes the Tea Party, the Evangelicals, the flyover patriots and grassroots.
They team up and become unbeatable!
So now we should expect dirty tricks, rumors, lies that aim to turn Trump supporters against Cruz supporters and vice versa.
It’s coming.
They have to find a way to stop Trump-Cruz from forming.
Lots of Cruz-Trump fights right here. I continue to like ‘em both.
I just posted this on another thread-

“Cruz has not attacked Trump”
Nor has he attacked other GOP candidates. He does attack Hillary and her ilk however.
Those who think Trump has no clue what he’s doing need to look at the alliances he is forming, and the people he’s gathering around him. Pretty astute, if you ask me.
I am getting confused and need an advil pm.
Trump’s views have changed very much in a short span of years and that is fine with me. But wow, going from dissing Mitt for being mean to illegals to calling for wholesale deportation (which is fine with me) is big time.
Cruz is making allies (and vice versa) with a competitor for the most powerful position on the planet.
BOTH are planning to protest the Iran deal in a few weeks, from what i’ve read tonight.
My best guess, with my limited intellect, is Cruz has been asked to be Trump’s VP and he figures, why not, he’s young enough and can keep Trump in line.
While it’s true that Cruz would get a portion of Trump’s support, a lot of moderates, independents, and dare i say, some dems, like Trump.
That would spread things too thin if Trump dropped out and maybe hand it to Bush.
Cruz is making the smart move. Perhaps Cruz and Trump aren’t best friends. Perhaps they are. Who cares?
It’s not personal. It’s just business. And business is good.
I’d like to see Cruz/Lt Col Allen West, we badly need some one who knows how to fight terrorism and West knows how to do that very well.
