Okay, so what happens after Trump?
What happens if he fades away or decides hes had enough and drops out? What do his angry, frustrated and fed-up supporters do? Do they also drop out?
Early warning: This column has more questions than answers usually not a good thing for someone whos at least attempting to influence the conversation. But when writing or talking about Donald Trump and his run for the presidency, there are few easy, or obvious, answers to the many questions his candidacy raises.
Youve been warned.
There is a civil war raging in the Republican Party, even if some conservatives dont think so. Its a battle between the angry, frustrated and fed-up wing and the more moderate types. At the moment Trump is the standard bearer for the angry wing, voters who may very well sit home on Election Day if Trump or someone they think is not conservative enough wins the nomination.
Trump tells us hell deport 11 million illegal immigrants. Its not going to happen and I suspect even he knows it. But so what? Its what the angry, frustrated and fed-up wing wants to hear.
He tells us hes going to build a wall to keep illegals from south of the border out of this country and the Mexicans are going to pay for it. Thats not going to happen, either. But again, so what?
Hows he going to deal with China? Dont you worry, he will. Hes a good negotiator. Just ask him. And that also is good enough for his the Trump faithful.
When youre angry, frustrated and fed-up someone like Trump looks like a messiah youve been waiting for. They dont care if Trump is just spouting words that have little substance. They dont care how impractical he is. His strong suit is that hes not the others. And for the moment, thats more than enough.
Heres another question: If Trump no longer is in the race will his acolytes throw their support to another real conservative or say the deck was stacked against their guy and sit it out?
And what if that post-Trump real conservative is someone in the Trump mold, but a tad more sophisticated someone like Ted Cruz? What if he also fails to win the nomination (which is a good bet)? Will the angry, frustrated and fed-up wing support Rubio or Kasich or Fiorina? How about Bush or Christie? Dont bet on it.
Of course, theres another possibility in my view, a very long shot. And that is: Trump actually wins the nomination.
Most GOP voters want anybody but Hillary (or Sanders or Biden), but do they want Donald Trump and his massive ego as the voice and face of America? Do they really want him in charge of the nuclear football? Will they vote for Donald or sit home?
We all remember that at the top of the GOP debate, Fox News moderator Bret Baier asked all the candidates if they would pledge to support the partys nominee whomever it might be. All but Trump said they would. But theres another important question hovering over the campaign: Will GOP voters support the Republican candidate whomever it turns out to be.
The answer to that question would tell us a lot about whether the Republicans have a real chance of winning the White House in 2016.
If Trump does nothing more than secure the border and send the invaders back home, he will have done more to save this country than all the rest of the fake do-gooders have done in fifty years!
In my case, I will vote with enthusiasm if Trump, Cruz or Carson are the nominees. Walker may be. Rest unlikely, and will be the first time I stay home on election day.
...................................................
I will NOT vote for Carson. His wishy washy position on gun control together with my knowledge of how the great majority of doctor’s think, would preclude me ever supporting him, regardless of his obvious brilliance in other matters. He would make a great surgeon-general.
What happens if he fades away or decides hes had enough and drops out? What do his angry, frustrated and fed-up supporters do?

First of all, Bernie Goldberg SUCKS! But, to answer his question: 90% of them will go to Cruz..... guaranteed!
I can’t write in candidates here in Nevada.
It seems he should strive to prove that the others are “real conservatives”. All I’ve seen the last few elections cycles is bait and switch.
I don’t understand why Trump hasn’t, as of yet, incorporated these two ladies into his campaign. They are DY-NO-MITE:

Then vote Constitution Party. But I think we all should vote.
Dont sit out the election.
Also, there are other elections going on. I am voting for anyone who has actually accomplished anything TANGIBLE outside of politics. Even if he/she is a democrat.
Nothing more obnoxious than a reformed liberal.
One can only hope.
I just saw on the news this morning that Dennis Hof is considering running for the Senate here in Nevada. If he is on the ballot I’ll at least go put in a vote for him. :)
I have always felt it was my responsibility and duty to vote but I am so tired of being lied to or having to settle for the lessor of two evils. I have issues with the Constitution Party but if necessary I’ll research who their candidate is and see.
I have real issues with Cruz but I don’t expect he’ll be the nominee anyway. To my mind, other than Trump we have a very poor selection of candidates running. At one time I thought Walker but after watching him I don’t believe he would make an effective president either.
> If we dont get a conservative, Ill write in Cruz.
Ditto. SO tired of GOPe and the Uniparty!
Maybe i'm wrong on the Judges, but when we can't even get people whom we elect who are referred to as "conservative" to appoint conservative Judges, then I don't see how we can get someone like Trump to insist on them.
This takes an awful lot of faith for us to be putting our trust in the word of Donald Trump to appoint conservative Judges.
He's from New York. He hobnobs with Democrats far more than Republicans, and even the ones he associates with are of the "limousine Liberal" variety. He has an Urban, Democrat world view because that's what he grew up with.
Regarding Ted Cruz or Scott Walker I have no concerns. They are happy warriors and they understand the stakes and they have a good grasp of the tactics necessary to deal with the Liberal Juggernaut that has been rolling us up for the past several decades.
I will support Trump if he ends up being the nominee, but I have many misgivings about him, and I don't trust his sincerity. I don't trust his conversion to a conservative. I think he will revert back to that same Urban Democrat mindset that he grew up with, especially as regards judges.
That was IT! I am so glad you shared those links! Weren’t they marvelous!
I would give almost anything to see Magpie Kelly tank in ratings over what she has done. It’s a hard thing to do during an election cycle, but her nasty gotcha’s were more about her career enhancement than Trump policies.
Glad you brought up the black rage against the open borders!
Trump has openings and I expect him to inspire minorities. They may not admit it to pollsters, but they alone may be pulling the lever for Trump in surprising numbers behind that curtain.
Thank you so much! Those links are worth a separate post on FR early and often!
See there, that shows us that already at least one black may skirt the issue a little, but when pressed he reveals he is actually considering what Trump is saying!
Great story!
So many comments here, so, I’m replying to “All”. First of all: I am certain a President Trump’s first appointment to the SCOTUS will be Ted Cruz. Secondly......
If Trump is the nominee, he will get many Black votes to offset any Hispanic votes he will lose b/c of his hard stand on the Illegal Invasion. There is no love lost between the Hispanic and Black communities. Many Blacks resent the Hispanics coming in and taking their jobs and even more Blacks resent Hispanics coming in and taking “their” entitlements. Trump is on track. He can win this thing.
What don’t the GOP Establishment get about Americans not wanting the NWO, massive invasion over our borders, illegals and foreign workers sucking off our opportunity, our lives and taxes, socialism/ending the constitutional Republic, the police state, liberal racism and hatred of America’s form of government and Americans, sick of the pandering to Muslims, gutting the military and mistreating vets, unchecked crime, Agenda 21 and all other UN entanglements, the persecution of Christians, losing jobs, debt, Federalized, Marxist (re) education, the middle class shrinking, the billionaires buying politicians to the point of treason, Obamacare, lying, corruption, Universities ripping off students...
They are so out of touch with reality - everything that matters while living as an American in America! Some fed up Americans have gone far left (because they know no better - have not read about Venezuela) and conservatives who are still conservatives - but shut out of the discussion and classified as “terrorists” by the police state. Compared to the treasonous Establishment, we are now extremists - patriots.
The moderate Republican is a tiny group that can not win elections. This has been proven twice now and the GOP Establishment does not care about that either. They win if the Dems win - same NWO agenda.
Foreign free trade and legal immigration is one thing but sucking the wealth, life and culture out of America (making us a third world nation) in service to the UN, foreigners and foreign governments is another, very treasonous thing. They won’t stop themselves. They are wrecking a once great Nation.
Exactly. We can't even get our own guys to protect our interests in their Judiciary selections. Unless someone is deliberately picking known conservative Judges, we are going to get Moderates and Liberals, and that won't fix a D@mn thing.
